Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Ford.
Kyla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Kyla Ford. I am originally from Sacramento, California and I never imagined my journey would include being divorced at 19, losing my brother unexpectedly, and raising three young children—all before truly finding myself. In 2010, I moved to Utah seeking a fresh start. Life quickly shifted when my brother passed away soon after my move—a heartbreak that rocked my world. But amidst the grief, I met and married my husband, and together we began building a beautiful family.
Motherhood came quickly and fully, and while I cherished raising my three babies, I also felt called to do more—not just for myself, but for other women like me. In 2019, I followed that prompting and enrolled in BYU-Pathway Worldwide, ultimately earning my degree in Marriage and Family Studies from BYU-Idaho in 2024, along with certifications in Human Relations and Parent Education.
Returning to school as a busy mom reignited something powerful in me. I discovered my true passion: helping stay-at-home moms rediscover their full potential through continuous learning and personal development. That passion became PowHERful—a personal growth brand that creates a supportive space for women to embrace lifelong learning, develop their strengths, and achieve meaningful goals.
Today, I work as a public speaker and personal growth mentor, sharing my message across stages and communities. Through workshops, one-on-one support, and storytelling, I guide women on their journey to self-worth and purpose. My mission is simple yet profound: to help women find joy—regardless of their circumstances—and become who they were always meant to be.
I believe that when women grow, families thrive, and communities are strengthened. As an expert in continuing education and personal development, I’m committed to creating a ripple effect of empowerment that starts at home and expands outward.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—my path has been anything but smooth, but it’s those very struggles that have shaped who I am today. I was divorced at just 19 years old, which left me feeling lost and uncertain about my future. In 2010, I moved to Utah in search of a fresh start, but shortly after arriving, my brother passed away unexpectedly. That loss was devastating and tested every part of my emotional and spiritual strength.
Soon after, I married my husband and quickly stepped into the demanding role of motherhood, raising three little ones while still carrying the weight of grief and unanswered questions. For years, I put my own dreams on hold. It wasn’t until 2019 that I felt a deep inner push to return to school. Balancing coursework, parenting, and personal healing was incredibly hard—but also transformational.
Those difficult seasons taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of personal growth—lessons I now share with the women I mentor.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about powHERful?
My brand, PowHERful, was born from a deep desire to help women—especially stay-at-home moms—rediscover their full potential through lifelong learning and personal development. I specialize in supporting women who often feel stuck, overlooked, or like they’ve lost touch with their identity while caring for everyone else. Through online resources, educational content, workshops, and one-on-one personal growth mentorship, PowHERful creates a safe and uplifting space for women to explore who they are and who they want to become.
What sets powHERful apart is that everything I offer is created by someone who’s walked the path. I know what it feels like to start over, to juggle motherhood with self-doubt, and to wonder if it’s “too late” to chase a dream. PowHERful is not just about motivation—it’s about equipping women with real tools, community support, and confidence to grow, heal, and thrive.
I am known for being encouraging, relatable, and deeply practical. Whether it’s helping a mom go back to school, reach a goal, or simply believe in herself again, I’m proud that PowHERful is making real, lasting impact. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how many women have told me they finally feel “seen” and “capable” again.
If there’s one thing I want your readers to know, it’s that their story isn’t over. Personal growth is always possible—no matter your age, background, or circumstance. PowHERful is here to walk that journey with you.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Absolutely! As a woman, mom, and mentor, I’ve found so much strength and clarity through resources that speak directly to the challenges and joys of motherhood, faith, and personal growth. Some of my favorites include:
Books like “Mindset” by Carol Dweck, “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth” by John C. Maxwell, and “Present Over Perfect” by Shauna Niequist have helped me embrace grace, purpose, and authenticity in both life and motherhood.
Podcasts such as The Mel Robbins Podcast are packed with empowering and practical tools for managing mom life while still growing as an individual.
These resources remind me that it’s okay to grow slowly, to prioritize joy, and to take up space—even in the sacred, often unseen work of motherhood.
