Exploring Life & Business with Linda Hoffman of PMI Mountain Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Hoffman

Hi Linda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2006, I was a stay at home mom. I had a 12 year old daughter, a 9 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. We were living in Park City with my husband commuting to Salt Lake daily to run a plumbing company. As I was talking with a neighbor I was telling her that my mother in law was looking for a new company to watch over her 2nd home in Park City. With my hands full raising our kids, I really did not want to help her too much but I told her I would. I was telling my neighbor the story and she happened to be a realtor and she said “oh my gosh, I have a client that needs your services to watch over their home too”. I thought about it and figured since I was helping my mother in law, I could help this new homeowner. Well word of mouth happened and I found myself in business with a company that specialized in home concierge services. My husband, Tom and I worked this business until 2021. Through those years, our company name was High Country Home Concierge. We did the “boots on the ground” work for property managers such as housekeeping, maintenance and concierge work. We also started working for a 5 star membership club company that was its own beast that we struggled with but eventually were able to sustain. To this day, 16 years later I am proud to say we still have that 5 star contract. We worked with 2nd home owners ensuring their home was ready for their arrival. This would include but definetely not limited to dropping car at airport, going grocery shopping, stocking their refrigerator/pantry, cleaning, turning heat on, installing wood for their fireplace. Basically just making the home perfect for their arrival. In 2021, Tom and I thought we are so good at what we do, we should be doing the nightly reservations as well. At that time we purchased a PMI Franchise which is what our company is today, PMI Mountain Collection. We have the backing of a corporation, which is local to Utah, but with the small town feel. We have 2 of our children working for us and we love that we are keeping it “in th family”. We are very unique in our services due to how we got our start. We offer 2nd home management, BBO(book by owner) model and full management.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road, it depends how you look at it. We have been very successful which has allowed us to not miss one volleyball game, one lacrosse game, one band concert or one fieldtrip. We have been lucky enough to be able to attend all things that our kids were involved in. This has been our biggest priority and to this day do not regret one thing we have done in business so that we could be there for our kids every step of the way.

Some of the struggles have been finding quality employees in a field that is entry level positions. But over time, we have found wonderful people and are really trying to cut out the bad employees sooner rather than later. We have learned that is the best way.

Other challenges we have faced is finding our groove. We know that we have a great product we provide to our homeowners/clients but we can not be everything to everybody. So being more strategic in our approach to finding the right homeowners is key to success and our sanity!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
My journey began in Silverton Oregon. But the majority of my upbringng was in Aumsville, Oregon, a small town where family, community, and a love for the outdoors played central roles in my upbringing. Growing up in a “not rich” but close-knit family, I learned early on that the most valuable things in life aren’t material but are found in the time spent with loved ones. Annual family road trips to California were the highlight of my childhood, creating memories that still bring a smile to my face.

I was deeply involved in sports throughout my school years. I played soccer, ran track, and competed in tennis, but my true passion was being a football cheerleader, where I could combine my athleticism with my love of team spirit. These experiences taught me the importance of dedication, teamwork, and perseverance—qualities that have served me well in my professional life.

My parents owned a restaurant, and growing up in that environment gave me an early education in hard work and business operations. Watching my parents manage their business instilled a strong work ethic and an understanding of what it takes to run a successful enterprise, lessons I would carry into my career in property management.

From these small-town beginnings, I have carved out a successful path in the property management industry. At PMI Mountain Collection, I apply the values of dedication, integrity, and a deep sense of community, ensuring that every property under my care is managed with the same attention and respect I would give my own home.
