Exploring Life & Business with Paulina Rugerio Patterson of Pau Patterson Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Rugerio Patterson.

Hi Paulina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It all started around 6th grade when I used to grab my parent’s camera and have shot with my friend, of course, they were not good material but at the time I thought it was the best. After that I continued to take pictures of random things; I knew I liked photography since then. In high school, I photographed for the school paper and again, I never thought I would actually do more with it.

I graduated as a psychologist and put the camera to the side in 2018 but after the hard 2020, I decided to put my fears to the side and start doing what I loved the most: Photography. I’m originally from Louisiana but in September 2021, I decided I needed to move to one of the most beautiful states to grow as a photographer, we drove two days straight to get here and I’m so glad I did. Utah has so much to offer, beautiful views, and some wonderful people.

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Utah models and also wonderful families, couples, and even kids. I don’t regret a single day the decision to follow my photographer dream here in Utah.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has its rough patches, I think my worst enemy is myself. The self-doubt, the wondering if it was good enough, staring at the pictures and wondering if I did too much or too little.

I think it was definitely harder in Louisiana because there are really not that many pretty places and it’s so hot and humid, so clients run away from the outdoors.

Now in Utah is way better and my self-doubt still shows once in a while but definitely practice and confidence take you a long way to being better every day.

We’ve been impressed with Pau Patterson Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I do part-time photography; I especially do Weddings/couples, female boudoir, creative individual, children, and maternity photography.

I’m an affordable photographer with excellent quality; I believe in making the people I work with comfortable with themselves, expressing their love, and showing the happiness within them. My style as a photographer is vibrant true to color moody tones if I were to describe it.

My work and investment information can be found on my website https://paupattersonphotography.mypixieset.com/. I also include Gowns/Dresses for women, girls, and babies in some of my packages; they can all be found on my rentals Instagram @thetravelingdressrentals.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Oh my goodness, I moved all the way from Louisiana just to be here haha, I LOVE the cold and how there’s no humidity. I love the snow, I know some say I’ll have to wait and see if I’ll still like it after a few years but I definitely know I will. I love the view, the canyons and all around it!

I don’t like the home prices but what can we do hehe.
