Exploring Life & Business with Ruby Soto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Soto.

Hi Ruby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Wilmington, CA 6 years ago and moved here to Salt Lake City Utah. At the moment I was a stay-at-home mom of 4 children. When the pandemic started I struggled a lot with anxiety, I was on medication. At the end of April 2020, I started hiking, I stopped my medication, And hiking helped a lot with my anxiety. The pandemic really put me think of life and what I really wanted in my life. On April 2021 I started my business (Porvidas801) I started selling in the swapmeet.

Then from there, I got to meet a lot of good people that have helped me walk through the process. I started getting invited to car shows and events. Now I get invited to travel to the supershows, concerts, car shows, etc. On Sundays, I still open up my shop at the Redwood drive-in swapmeet in Salt Lake City. And weekdays when I’m not working on my business I take my kids on little adventures and try to focus on them before the weekend starts and I have to get back to work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest struggles as a mother of 4 including one autistic son is leaving them most of the time on weekends and it only gets harder when I have to travel for days.

Even though they are safe and well taken care of by grandma/mother-in-law, it still gets to me, and to be honest, I cry sometimes but I know I got to keep it strong pick myself up, and wipe their tears. Because is for a better future for them and I know in the end everything I’m doing is gonna pay off.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Porvidas801?
I’m a retail seller I specialize in selling brands like Ben Davis, FB County, Summit Hats, DGA, & many more. I’m known for having these unique brands at my shop. What sets me apart from others is the way I am, I get compliments about how they love my energy, my attitude, my charisma, and how friendly and approachable I am.

Honestly, all the brands I carry are really requested. What I would love people to know is that I’m very proud of my Chicano culture and basically I carry most of the Chicano clothing that fits our culture.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What has worked for me is networking. Some of my favorite apps to use in my business are Instagram and Facebook.
