Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Bear.
Hi Autumn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I did some extensive travel when I had just graduated from my undergraduate degree and unfortunately I had gotten quite sick. When I cam home a family friend had recommended that I try acupuncture (this was in the 90’s just as acupuncture was being legalized in the US). I absolutely fell in love with it!! I became a patient for 10 years and when I was making some decisions about graduate school I decided that I wanted to explore Chinese medicine as an option. I went to an open house for a small school in the heart of New York City run by an 88th generation Taoist priest and practitioner. It was like the skies parted. I applied immediately, was in school a few months later and never looked back. That was 20 years ago.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, there have certainly been obstacles along the way but my love for what I do and for the extensive beauty of this medicine has never changed. I can’t imagine doing anything else even if the road has been bumpy along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Autumn Bear Wellness Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I own a wellness clinic in Park City, Utah. My goal is to provide and integrative center where we offer excellence in traditional medicine as well as Classical Chinese medicine. Integration is about using the best of both worlds to offer comprehensive care to every person who walks through our door. We take everyone where they are in their health journey and we help them reach their health goals so that they may live their absolute best life for as long as possible. We pride ourselves in serving our community, offering services that are truly needed and wanted, and doing that with excellence.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I have to meet everyone where they are in their journey. Healing and health are a very personal experience and I have learned to respect where someone is along their path. I am here to walk with them and it is an honor to be part of their team but ultimately all the decisions they make are up to them.
