Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Pixton.
Hi Autumn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into real estate began in 2023 while working a demanding 12-hour shift production job I had been at for over three years. It felt secure—until mass layoffs shook the company, including my boss who’s been there over a decade. That moment changed everything for me. I realized how unstable that “security” really was and how little control I had over my future.
At the same time, I was newly married and casually learning about real estate in preparation for buying a home someday. On a whim, I signed up for a real estate course at the local college—and it completely shifted my perspective. I heard from Realtors who had built their own businesses, created flexibility in their lives, and found fulfillment in helping others. I’d always dreamed of being my own boss, and suddenly, this path felt possible.
After earning my license, I started part-time, eventually taking the leap to go full-time and leave my old job behind. My husband supported us as I found my footing. It was a slow start, but once I made my first sale, I knew I had found my place. I loved the people, the process, and the purpose.
Two years ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. His battle and eventual passing this January reminded me that real success isn’t just about business—it’s about having time for what matters most. Choosing real estate gave me time with my dad and family that I’ll always be grateful for. That, to me, is the true gift of this career.
Through these past almost two years of selling real estate, I’ve learned so much about myself and the life I want to live—and what I truly want to spend my time doing. I’ve loved the relationships I’ve built by helping people through the homebuying process, especially because most clients are going through big life changes themselves. I relate to that. Home is where we feel most secure and loved with the people who matter most. I love being a part of finding that place for my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been the bumpiest road full of unexpected turns, but also the most rewarding. While building my career in real estate, I’ve faced some of the hardest seasons of my life. Starting any business takes incredible patience, resilience, and hard work. There are no shortcuts. But knowing that your success is directly tied to your own effort drives you to push even harder.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is earning the trust of clients while being young and new to the industry. People naturally gravitate toward experience, but I’ve learned to show that trust can also be built through compassion, dedication, and skill. I may be early in my career, but I bring my whole heart into every transaction.
The most difficult trial I’ve faced was losing my dad to cancer this year. He was my biggest inspiration, the hardest worker I knew, and the reason I believed I could build something of my own. His example of providing for our family is what motivates me every single day. His passing could have stopped me in my tracks, but instead, it lit a fire in me. It reminded me that life is short and we have one chance to live with purpose. I want to make him proud and build a life worth living.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a dedicated realtor, I specialize in working with first-time home buyers and primarily serve as a buyer’s agent. I take the time to truly understand each client’s story so I can advocate for them effectively and negotiate to meet their unique needs. My goal is to make the process not only smooth, but empowering. Educating my clients along the way so they feel confident in every decision. I’m proud of the trust I build and the comfort I bring to what can often feel like an overwhelming journey. As a listing agent, I treat every home sale with the same care and respect I would my own, always putting my clients’ best interests first and working to make their experience just as rewarding.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along this journey with my business is that what you put in is what you get out. Real estate, like any business, doesn’t hand out success, you have to earn it through consistent effort, patience, and genuine care for the people you serve. Every late night working on offers, every extra phone call to ease a client’s nerves, and every bit of energy poured into learning the market has come back to me in growth, trust, and personal fulfillment. This career has shown me that when you truly invest in your clients and your craft, the results will reflect that dedication. It’s not always easy, but the reward of helping someone find a place to call home makes every challenge worth it.
