Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was working at Expedition Superstore as the Store Manager, a one stop shop all things overland (Vehicle based camping). We sold Roof top tents, roof racks, suspension, campers, ETC. This is where my passion for the outdoors and camping was first ignited. I loved the environment and the people that came along with the industry.
However, as the Store Manager of a rapidly growing store, I felt overworked and under compensated. Desperately praying and seeking an opportunity to own a business of my own in the industry, a customer walked in and pitched me on the Lone Rock Concepts Overland Water Pump Kit to carry it in the store. Being as I had experience with what products sold and which did not, I realized the could be the answer to my prayers.
Everyone who goes camping or overlanding has a need for water. Everyone brings some sort of water jug out with them when exploring. Most water containers have gravity spouts that either waste water or are a pain to open and close while you are doing a task that requires both your hands, such as washing the dishes or washing your hands. When using a gravity fed container and switching between tasks you are typically wasting a lot of water as well. The Lone Rock Concepts Overland Water Pump Kit includes and adapter for the specific container you already own as well as an electric pump allowing you to access to your water with the touch of a button. I saw this as a genius idea that could only be expanded upon.
Making an offer to purchase the company about 1 year go, We came to an agreement, finalized the paper work, and I rebranded the company. I changed the logo, redid the website, refined the product and packaging, as well as several other key factors to make Lone Rock Concepts what it is today. Running a successful E-commerce business that allows me the freedom to explore and live the life I have always desired. Giving all my success to the most high, I feel extremely blessed and grateful to be in the position I am today. Helping others make there camping trips easier and more efficient while living a life I once could only dream of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I thought owning a business would be sunshine and rainbows, and while its amazing, it has come with its own set of challenges and road blocks. The biggest being complete self accountability. If something goes wrong when it comes to scheduling shipments or product innovations it is all on me. There is no one to point the finger at except myself. Key suppliers for materials have pulled out right before a big orders and many curveballs have been thrown my way when it came to paying back initial start up costs. However, this has only taught me the skills of being able to make key decisions in a timely manner, be quick on my feet, and always ready to pivot at any point in time.

A portion of all our revenue goes to the children so they can gain access to all the things we sometimes take for granted living in the United States.
