Hidden Gems: Meet Corinne Dalton of Anicka Counseling Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Dalton.

Corinne Dalton

Hi Corinne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your back story.
I have worked as a medical and legal interpreter for 17 years. I am originally from Argentina and moved here to Utah in 1992. About 9 years ago, I started teaching DUI education classes that are court-ordered for folks who got a DUI. At about 7 different facilities.

(MENTAL HEALTH AND COUNSELING CENTERS), I realized that a lot of these places were there to just make money off of clients and were not that interested in actually helping people. These are people who are already stressed out or suffering from a lot of anxiety, so I wanted to open a facility that was more into easing that type of stress/anxiety for clients/patients.

We opened the Anicka Counseling Center 5 years ago. We have 2 therapists on staff as well as a doctor who specializes in substance use disorders. I teach quite a few classes in Spanish as well as in English. We all love what we do over here!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles were not too bad or crazy, just the typical issues that a new business with a new concept has to go through until people and colleagues get to know us.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I teach different classes in English and Spanish. I am also a well-being coach and a mindset coach. We have a completely different approach to mental health. We meet with someone who comes here for the first time to see what they are looking for, and what their needs are and then we cater to their specific needs.

We all love what we do. It has been an amazing, fun, and productive experience and I feel so proud to have become well-known to judges, probation officers, attorneys, etc., I feel that I help the Hispanic community as well as any other community that cares for our services a lot in the last few years.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always very curious, an avid learner, always reading and investigating!!
