Today we’d like to introduce you to Francis Wong.
Hi Francis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in Hong Kong, I was always captivated by the architecture surrounding Victoria Harbour. To me, the buildings felt like towering mannequins lining both sides of the water, each dressed in a stunning wardrobe for the world to admire. Although I once dreamed of pursuing music, my mother encouraged me to explore visual art instead. I started drawing at a young age—not particularly skilled at first, but I never stopped. Art became a constant in my life. I majored in it from the ninth grade onward, and after moving to the U.S., I deepened my study, immersing myself in everything from figure drawing to art history.
Over time, life’s responsibilities pulled me away from the hours I used to spend with pencil and paper. That’s when photography found me. It became my new medium—a way to express my vision, emotions, and perspective on the world. In 2020, after over two decades in the retail industry, I made the leap and turned my passion for photography into a business. The rest, as they say, is history.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggle is an inevitable part of every industry, and my journey has been no exception. During my years working full-time in retail, I experienced my share of highs and lows—but I never allowed those challenges to deter me. Since shifting my focus to photography, one of the most persistent obstacles has been maintaining a consistent client flow. There are months filled with promise and profit, followed by others where a single booking is all that comes through. While there are certainly individuals who understand the value of quality work and are willing to invest in it, the reality is—there simply aren’t enough of them. Still, I remain committed to my craft and continue to evolve, knowing that the pursuit of passion often comes with its own set of trials.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At its core, FraNtiK is more than just a business—it’s a creative ecosystem. What began as FraNtiK Solutions has grown into a dynamic, multi-faceted platform that fuses visual storytelling, community-building, and brand elevation. Through our FraNtiK MEdia division and VESSEL Lifestylish Magazine, we specialize in artistic expression that speaks to culture, fashion, identity, and authenticity.
VESSEL Lifestylish Magazine is our pulse—an editorial space that celebrates underrepresented voices, emerging creatives, and trendsetters who are shaping lifestyle through a lens of artistry. We’re not just reporting on what’s stylish—we’re helping define what it means to live ‘Lifestylish.’ Our readers come to us for elevated visuals, meaningful features, and inspiration rooted in real people doing impactful things.
FraNtiK MEdia is where vision comes to life. Whether through photography, branding, or curated experiences like our social club and annual gala, we create spaces that connect creatives, amplify stories, and make people feel seen. Our services range from editorial shoots and personal branding to collaborative campaigns and exclusive content experiences.
What sets us apart is our approach: we treat creativity like couture—tailored, intentional, and statement-making. We’re not interested in blending in. We’re here to create standout moments that linger. Every visual, every page, every event is designed with soul, style, and purpose.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the community we’re building. FraNtiK and VESSEL aren’t just platforms—they’re vessels (pun intended) for connection, empowerment, and representation. We’re shining light on artists and voices that deserve to be front and center.
If there’s one thing I’d love your readers to know, it’s that we’re here to help people see themselves differently—bolder, brighter, and more Lifestylish than ever.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could revisit the beginning, I would have allowed myself a bit more time for thoughtful preparation and strategic planning. I found myself slightly racing against the clock to meet the deadline for the launch of our very first issue of VESSEL. It was a proud moment, but after the first quarter, it became clear where improvements could be made—whether in refining the content, strengthening the editorial voice, or streamlining the overall aesthetic and energy of the publication.
With each issue, we’ve evolved—growing not only in sophistication but in confidence. But truthfully, I don’t believe in the phrase “I wish I had known.” Growth requires motion. You have to step into the unknown, make the missteps, and learn through the experience. That’s where true refinement begins. Every stumble has shaped us into who we are today, and we wear those lessons with pride.
