Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Finnie.
Hi Joel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Calgary, Canada then attended high school in Murrieta,
CA where I played football and wrestled. I served a mission in St. George, Utah. My wife, Lindsey, and I met at BYU Idaho.
I finished my associates in Hawaii and my bachelor’s at BYU. We have 2 boys, Liam and Brody, a Chocolate Labradoodle named Charley, and a rabbit named Harvey.
When I’m not hard at work for my clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, the outdoors, CrossFit, snowboarding, surfing, offroading, and anything that gets the adrenaline going.
WHY DID I BECOME A REALTOR?
I started my real estate career as an investor flipping houses. I worked with many Realtors and saw a huge opportunity to increase the level of service and value the client receives so I decided to become one myself.
When I started working with clients I found that my background was a huge asset to them and that I really enjoyed helping people achieve their dreams through real estate. I became a Realtor to provide better value, and an excellent customer experience and that is exactly what I do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every transaction has unique challenges and I have a great opportunity to use my experience and creative solutions to help my clients navigate them. It’s something I really enjoy doing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in three areas: Luxury Homes, New Construction, and Investments. I hold the Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist Designation and have received their highest honors and GUILD recognition for demonstrating experience and expertise in the million-dollar and above market.
I also hold two designations relating to new construction: Certified New Home Specialist and Residential Construction Certified. I help both buyers and builders with buying and building new homes, marketing and selling new homes, and finding lend to building new homes. I have extensive experience and expertise in investments.
I started in real estate back in 2009 by working to liquidate a portfolio of 60 REOs and worked with partners to flip several homes in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Utah. I have a degree in Finance from BYU and also interned with a real estate private equity firm while I was in school where I underwrote the purchase of Multi-Family Flip deals between 15-50 Million Dollars all across the US.
