Today we’d like to introduce you to Karsten Ziche.
Hi Karsten, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age, I wanted to learn more about other languages and cultures, so I decided to become a certified translator and interpreter back in Germany where I was born and raised. At the age of 23, I moved to Manchester in the United Kingdom to complete my master’s degree in Translating for International Business. My year abroad turned into now 8 years abroad as I went on to work in the UK after completing my degree. A couple of years into my linguistics career, I realized that I have much more to offer than purely language skills, so I went back to university to do a second master’s degree in Marketing. This enabled me to combine my international background with my passion for business. My first role in eCommerce was with Sports Merchandise giant Fanatics where I managed multiple European soccer accounts and grew their business through internationalization. As part of my career progression, I transitioned from Fanatics to MyProtein, then to Musclefood, and then to Beauty Bay. This all helped me gain experience in a variety of industries and varying business sizes. Before I finally decided to start my own eCommerce Consultancy in 2022, I managed the partner program at JD Sports, including the likes of Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and Under Armour. I am proud of my past accomplishments throughout my career and very excited for what is still to come. At REACH eCommerce Consulting, I have had my first two clients within a matter of weeks and the business will only continue to grow from here on out.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think most careers come with ups and downs. My career has certainly been no exception. During the early days of my professional career, I was not sure whether or not I should continue working in linguistics or pursue my passion for business while struggling to decide where I wanted to spend some of the best years of my life. In hindsight, I can now say that I am grateful for the support I have had over the years which allowed me to pursue my passions, return to university for a second degree, and set me up to become a successful business owner in my early 30’s. I also experienced ups and downs in my eCommerce career. Each business setup is unique and, therefore, naturally not necessarily a good fit for everyone. While Fanatics was one of my best work experiences with a steep learning curve, my time at MyProtein showed me that I will not enjoy working for a business that does not share the same values as me. Other times, I may have been a little too impatient for bigger change to happen in some of the businesses I worked in, but I have always managed to stay true to myself and drive those businesses to the best of my abilities.
We’ve been impressed with REACH eCommerce Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
REACH eCommerce Consulting specializes in growing online businesses through branding, website development, research, marketing, social media, and analytics. We offer a full-service solution to allow our clients to sit back and watch their business grow. Many agencies/consultancies out there operate on a quantity over quality basis which leaves many clients disappointed and frustrated. We, however, take the time to understand our clients’ visions before we dive into planning, strategizing, and implementing to ensure a best-in-class experience with us. We are a small business and understand what struggles small businesses might go through but we also have the experience of working with multi-billion-dollar corporations and know what their pain points might be. Our international network of trusted freelance resource allows us to be more customer-focused, time-efficient, and cost-effective while our core team, including our CEO, manage each client’s project. We offer free consultations for those who are not sure yet if we are a good fit.
Any big plans?
REACH eCommerce Consulting is currently run by our CEO Karsten Ziche who is based in the Denver Metropolitan area and Christophe Audisio who is based in Tokyo, Japan. In the next 12 months, we are planning to expand the team and add full-time resource across the UK, Europe, and United States. As our client base grows, we do not want to make the common mistake of overpromising and underdelivering. Our international network allows us to cater for client needs in different time zones, delivering their projects time and cost-effective to a very high standard. All projects will continue to be overseen by our CEO.
