Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Montano.
Hi Linda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was raised in an immigrant household, where hard-working, tired parents were all I knew. The responsibility of keeping our home clean and cooking was a role the children assumed throughout the workweek. On the weekends, my mom would pop her CDs in our 5-disc CD player; she’d blast her Chayito Valdez, Paquita la del Barrio, and Rocio Durcal – just to name a few. It became our alarm on Saturday mornings, indicating to my siblings and me, it was time to get up and start the deep cleaning of our home.
Deep cleaning in our home involved everything we were already tasked to do throughout the week, along with cleaning bathrooms, baseboards, windows, walls, dusting, etc. My father was an over-the-road truck driver. It was normal for him to be away working over the road for three weeks and home for one short week, or less. As you can imagine – yard work was something we’d learn to do too.
Now that I am a mother of three beautiful children of my own, I found myself being the tired parents I grew up seeing, throughout my entire childhood.
I saw my young self in my children.
One night, I reflected back on my childhood and all the missed memories I didn’t have the chance to create with my father. Contemplating on everything I missed out on, due to the three-week periods he would be gone working, throughout my childhood. I sat morose and silent, thinking of the value of time, with the clear memory of losing my father at 15. The memories of my mom assuming the role of both parents, the 4 am drives to daycare, as we chanted prayers in the car, with my mom. The weight I now Know she must have felt, to have to sacrifice so much time away from her children. She always kept her faith present in her day to day. Holding close the hope for better days.
It became a priority to change the narrative for my children. Creating a business and working for ourselves, would allow me the freedom of producing this outcome for my family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s one thing to clean your own home, but it’s a different game to create a business from the ground up, that would offer services that exceed the standards of both the residential and commercial needs of our clients.
As I dove deeper into the industry, I realized there was much more I wanted to offer, to elevate the client experience.
Spending countless hours and many sleepless nights in the research and development of Elevate Utah Cleaning, I dedicated time to trial our own service, in order to determine what we needed to adjust, to not only meet but exceed the current standard in the industry.
Before offering our services to the public, I ensured we had the appropriate license and insurance that would cover the variety of services offered to the residential and commercial clients we would be working with. I chose to take an extra step and investment, by purchasing a bond – another client-focused decision, for an elevated experience.
It was quite the struggle to initiate the business while managing life, work, and the Vice-President role I hold with the American Academy of Professional Coders. But nothing could deter me from my vision of giving my children a balanced life with access to their parents.
As you know, we’re big fans of Elevate Utah Cleaning. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Elevate Utah Cleaning is a residential and commercial cleaning business.
We specialize in residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, post-construction cleaning, post-event cleaning, real estate pre-listing cleaning (move-in, move-out), and window cleaning services.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was curious and adventurous! I was the person who would take the left turn down a dirt road, just for the adventure (I had yet to discover crime podcasts)! I loved the feeling of having the wind in my hair, with the music playing loud, as the desert sun and heat permeated deep into my soul.
I have always been a deep thinker, deep feeling, extremely passionate individual Having those one-on-one connections with others, has always kept my mind open and thirsty for knowledge, for as long as I can remember.
I’ve always been drawn to be of service to others, with a very logical and organized approach to seeing things through. It’s the community approach my parents took to raising my siblings and me, that really influenced and shaped who I became growing up.
