Hidden Gems: Meet Lora Erickson of Blonde Runner Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lora Erickson.

Hi Lora, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My love of running started at an early age and has grown since. I found running to be a great outlet for life’s stresses and I loved to push myself even when I was a young child. I didn’t discover my true talent until high school as one of Colorado’s top distance runners. I was recruited to run for the University of Utah on scholarship and later transferred to Utah State University and was an All-Conference runner for them.

I graduated with a degree in Health Education with minors in Nutrition and Chemistry along with obtaining a USATF running coach certification. In high school, I set a goal to complete a triathlon and after having three kids I finally got around to it. I had quick success in the swim, bike, and run sports and instantly fell in love with the variety of training. I have now fully embraced coaching and athletics as a career and I have enjoyed working with all levels of athletes over the years.

As an athlete, I am driven to succeed and have competed in numerous races of all distances including 2x Ironman 70.3 World Championships as an AWA (All-World Athlete). I enjoy working with others and helping them achieve their goals through custom fitness and life coaching.

I believe success is a process and each individual is different and should be coached with all of those differences in mind to help them reach their own potential. Let’s connect and see if custom coaching is right for you. Visit my website or email me at theblonderunner@gmail.com to learn more about BlondeRunner.com.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but it does seem like it was a natural fit for me to continue to coach and be involved as an athlete.

I was hit by a truck on my bicycle and still managed to recover and compete in my first full Ironman nearly a year later. I have also lost a baby girl so that was difficult but it has made me stronger in many ways.

Now I can better understand what others might go through and have been able to put on an annual charity event on Memorial Day in her honor. RaceForGrief.com.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a running, triathlon, and life coach. I specialize in custom coaching programs and believe each person should be helped with their differences in mind. Most clients come from word-of-mouth.

I take a special interest in each person I work with so they can get the help they need to accomplish their goals. I am proud of the fact that I practice what I preach.

I am out in the trenches with my athletes doing the grueling workouts and racing in all conditions. If you are looking for a personalized experience, you will find it with my highly tailored coaching programs.

What makes you happy?
Seeing others accomplish their goals and knowing I had a small part in their journey.
