Today we’d like to introduce you to Mackenzie Kuhlmann
Hi Mackenzie , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to “do hair” when I grew up but I didn’t know exactly what that would entail. I couldn’t have imagined where my career would take me. I’ve always had such a strong passion for hair. I started cosmetology school at the age of 19. Graduated at 21 and married the love of my life. We now have three children. This industry has given us the freedom and flexibility to be very involved parents and be very successful at the same time. I’ve been in the industry for 12 years now. Six years into my career I decided I also had a passion for creating a beautiful space for others to grow in the beauty industry and that’s when we opened our very first Beauty Mark salon and spa. My cousin (a master esthetician) and I created this space for like minded individuals to call home for their businesses. We then moved to a larger location a year later and then 3 years after that moved to an even larger location. We were so amazed at the community we have built and the amount of growth we’ve had. We filled our building within the first month at our newest location and have had a waiting list for the past 2 years of being here. We are located on bluff street and 100 s in St George Utah. We are a booth rental salon and spa with 14 private rooms and an open hair salon up front. In September of 2023 I bought my cousin out of her share of the business and began the journey of running the business solo along side my husband. My husband has been such an amazing support system in my career and dreams. He has renovated all of our salons. During the same time as the buy out we also launched our luxury hair extensions and education “MACK ENVY HAIR EXTENSIONS” Finding my passion for helping others grow their businesses also led to me wanting to help by educating other hair stylists. I have been certifying stylists in beaded weft hair extensions. I absolutely love educating and helping them grow in the industry. We also have our own hair line and tools that you can purchase at www.mackenvyhair.com There’s also an option for stylists to sign up to be an ambassador and receive discounts and be included in our promotions and contests. We are excited to be growing Mack Envy and having more stylists join our team. We also have plans to grow Beauty Mark as well. We always know our business ventures have risks but I’ve always trusted in my ability to navigate through any hardships and challenges that come up and the ability to feel when something is the right choice or not in our growth. Over the years we have taken big risks and they have continued to reward us. I absolutely love where I am in my life and am very proud of my accomplishments. I am so grateful for everyone that has supported us in our businesses along the way including all of those that have ever been apart of Beauty Mark or Mack Envy. It takes a village in this industry and I’m grateful for the community I have.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothings completely smooth sailing. There has definitely been challenges and scary times hoping that our risk pays off. I’ve always been one to include prayer into my decision making. We are also huge on manifestation. If we want something enough and it feels right we know if we put in the work, it will all work out. When operating a business with 30+ people , there’s bound to be road blocks at times but it’s part of the business and I’m grateful for road blocks because they usually end up being learning opportunities. Best advice is that life is too short to hate your job. Chase those dreams, put in the work and watch the beauty of what you’ve created grow.

Beauty Mark is 6 years old and is a booth rent salon and spa. We have 14 private suites and an open layout hair salon up front. My husband and I are the perfect duo for this business, he has always renovated our spaces and I fill the space and grow it. We have an amazing downtown location. We currently have about 30 people growing their businesses inside of Beauty Mark. It has become a close community of entrepreneurs. It’s a full service salon and spa with a little bit of everything for guests and we also have a couple businesses that offer apprenticeships. One stop shop. Beauty Mark has become a desired working location for so many in this town. We have a waiting list for our private suites and a few hair chair booths available. Mack Envy hair extensions and education has been growing and expanding over the last year. We offer in person classes to certify stylists in beaded weft extensions. We pride ourselves on educating stylists about the importance of scalp health and comfort for our guests. We are in the works of our online education options along with other types of extension courses.
