Hidden Gems: Meet Meagan Pinckney of Goal Getter Girls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Pinckney

Hi Meagan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was in high school I suffered from intense anxiety. I would hyperventilate and be unable to calm myself down. My anxiety became extremely limiting very quickly. I was afraid to go places alone because I never knew when I would have my next panic attack and struggle to breath.

After high school I felt called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I put my papers in, but my mission call didn’t come. Instead I received a call from a church leader that said the church was worried about my anxiety. The leader informed me that I could serve a mission as long as I didn’t have another panic attack – no pressure.

I remember feeling nervous, but I also knew that this was something God was asking me to do so I knew it must be possible. I got a mission call to Washington DC and I loved my mission more than anyone loves anything. I never had a panic attack, except for once after a really bad haircut, but I think that’s completely reasonable.

On my mission I realized that my mental health really only affected me. This was my life and I had to decide how I was going to live it. I started carefully working towards personal goals and learning how to improve myself. I set goals in 3 different categories which then evolved to four categories when the church came out with a similar goal setting program for the children and youth of the church.

A few years later I was continuing on refining my goals and working on myself when I realized this wasn’t just a hobby – it was something I was really good at and something that could help other people (specifically moms) around me. So that’s when I started Goal Getter Girls, the goal setting system that helped me overcome anxiety and fill my day-to-day with things that I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Right before I started my business I had a close friend that I went on early morning runs with. We would talk about the things we loved in motherhood and the things we were doing to make the most of our circumstances. Then suddenly this friend unfollowed me and told me my life seemed too unrealistic.

I was hurt and felt confused. I thought she and I shared an optimistic point of view and that was one thing we had in common, I hadn’t realized she didn’t feel the same. After that was when I realized I needed to find a way to share this with those around me.

At first I felt so intimidated by all of the established coaches and influencers on Instagram. Was what I had to say enough? Would people care about my passion for goals? There was only one way to find out: going all in. I changed my username and shot for the stars.

Things started slow, but I was committed to growing my business and finding likeminded women who wanted to set goals and reach them and never stop working to be better each day. I’m still a very new business and I’m learning every day!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a motivational speaker and goals coach! I love speaking to church groups, corporate teams, schools, and organizations on setting effective goals and using positive affirmations to change their daily lives. I also run programs and create products to help christian women establish routines and healthy habits.

I am unique in my industry because I teach the process that I developed on my own over the last several years. I coach others on setting monthly goals, pairing their goals with affirmations, and seeing immediate changes in their day-to-day.

I’m so proud of the community of women I get to work with who are committed to changing instead of complaining and working towards their dreams.

There is always room for more goal getter girls! If you’re looking for the best hype up gang around, join us! I have programs, accountability groups, goal setting planners, 1:1 coaching, and I would love to be a speaker at your next event!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband and two kids are the best coworkers in the world. Without my husband’s support I don’t know if I would ever have the courage to put myself out there and keep going.

I also have to give credit to my business coach Alex Fales for pushing me to reach more women and make a bigger impact on those around me for the better. Her encouragement has helped me reach more women and have more confidence in myself.
