Hi Mersadies, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Mersadies Reber, CEO and Co-Founder of The Fellas Barber Shop, started her business in 2018 with a simple mission: to provide a five-star experience for every customer. Despite not graduating high school, Mersadies began her career at a franchise men’s hair salon but felt limited in giving her clients the attention they deserved. Driven by this frustration, she took the leap and opened her own shop.
From the start, like-minded barbers were drawn to her inclusive approach as a female leader in a male-dominated industry. As the business grew, so did Mersadies’ passion for creating a positive impact on the community. With five kids and working full-time, the road was challenging. She was up for it.
Two years in, Mersadies’ barber, Kekoa, approached her with the desire to open his own Fellas location. Though hesitant at first, Mersadies found joy in empowering others to own their shops. This collaborative spirit has been the foundation for expansion, with other barbers following suit, creating a community-driven approach to business.
Mersadies’ dedication to supporting local communities and creating a meaningful impact has been at the core of The Fellas’ success, driving growth with heart and a commitment to making a difference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working in a male dominated industry, Mersadies had to pave her own way. At the beginning barber shops weren’t interested in hiring women, so she decided to start The Fellas. Growth also has many struggles, building a team with the same values and vision has been instrumental to our success, but did not happen easily. Through lots of trial and error we have built a dream team of individuals ready to grow together! We started our “expansion” from one shop to four during Covid-19, it was a scary time, but ended up being great for us. Most barber shops closed down, because of our location is South Utah County we were able to stay open, and serve so many clients that weren’t able to see their usual barbers!

We’re known for our premium services like the Fellas Cut, which includes a consultation, shampoo, scalp massage, hot towel, and straight razor neckline finish — all tailored to each client. Every service is done with craftsmanship, attention to detail, and genuine care. Our barbers are some of the best in the industry, and we invest heavily in training to keep it that way.
