Hidden Gems: Meet Ryan and Christina Nay of Betty‘s Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan and Christina Nay.

Ryan and Christina Nay

Hi Ryan and Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Betty‘s Cafe was founded by Betty Clark in 1996. She is my grandmother. I have worked in this restaurant and in the one she previously owned throughout my childhood and adulthood. The recipes are homemade and passed down from her mom to Betty and now me.

My wife and I bought the business in 2021 from my mom who bought it from her mom Betty in 2002. Betty’s Cafe has always been a family-owned and run business. We pride ourselves on using fresh local ingredients to make homemade, breakfast and lunch. We love our customers and community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
COVID made it hard, and shortly after buying the restaurant, we had a fire that forced us to close for almost a year. However, we came out stronger and more than ever determined to continue to serve our customers the best breakfast and lunch in the Uintah Basin.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our cafe is reminiscent of a bygone era where the quality of the food means more than the time it takes to prepare it. We aim to use fresh, local products to serve traditional American all-time favorite breakfast and lunch.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am the third-generation owner of Betty‘s Cafe.
