Hidden Gems: Meet Sima Kboyaci of ERA Brokers Consolidated

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sima Kboyaci.

Sima Kboyaci

Hi Sima, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am an economist with a diverse background in real estate, initially working in Europe before moving to Utah to pursue a career as a Realtor.

My early professional years were spent at a Petrochemical Company in Europe, where I managed complex real estate operations involving the acquisition and relocation of idle production plants across different regions. This role not only honed my strategic planning and financial management skills but also involved upgrading facilities in collaboration with R&D departments, giving me a robust understanding of industrial real estate dynamics.

After moving from New York to Utah, I transitioned into residential real estate. I was driven by a dedication to helping people find their ideal homes and ensure a satisfying buying or selling experience. I am committed to providing exceptional service, as demonstrated when I arranged a property viewing at 7 am to accommodate a client’s schedule. Additionally, during a home inspection, I applied my technical knowledge to identify and educate the inspector about a critical issue with the water heater installation, ensuring my client’s interests were safeguarded.

In my career, whether in Europe, NYC, or Utah, I strive to bring a comprehensive, informed approach to real estate, drawing on my background in economics and my self-taught engineering skills to offer the best possible service to my clients.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Transitioning between continents and industries has not been a smooth road.

Initially, the move from working in an industrial real estate environment in Europe to residential real estate in Utah presented a significant shift. I had to navigate different regulations, market dynamics, and client expectations. Understanding the nuances of residential real estate, which differs markedly from the industrial sector I was accustomed to, involved a steep learning curve.

Additionally, relocating from New York to Utah came with challenges, such as building a new network and establishing credibility in a market where I was relatively unknown. Adapting to a new cultural and business environment required perseverance and a proactive approach to community engagement and learning.

Moreover, my role often involves solving unforeseen issues during transactions, such as identifying and resolving property defects during inspections, which demands a broad skill set and the ability to act quickly and efficiently. Despite these challenges, my dedication to providing the best service to my clients has always guided me through these hurdles, ensuring that I continue to grow professionally and support my clients effectively.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
As an economist, my approach to risk is fundamentally analytical. I prioritize calculating every variable to minimize risks and optimize outcomes.

This methodology applies directly to my work in real estate, where understanding and mitigating risks is crucial to success. For instance, transitioning from a stable role in industrial real estate in Europe to residential real estate in Utah was a significant risk. It involved not only a change in job function but also entering a market with different dynamics and client expectations.

This move required thorough market analysis, understanding local real estate laws, and building a new network. The risk was calculated, considering the growth potential in the Utah market and my desire to focus more on helping individuals and families find their perfect home, aligning with my personal and professional goals.

In real estate, like many fields, taking calculated risks is essential for growth and innovation. My background in economics provides a strong foundation for making such decisions, ensuring that risks are taken with a clear understanding of potential returns. This approach has guided not only my career transitions but also daily decisions in property investments and client advisories, always striving to secure the best possible outcomes for my clients and my career.
