Hi Alisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Mountain meals because of my own health journey. When I was in my early 20s, I struggled with many health issues but my biggest issue was my gut problems. I saw many different Dr only to be told I had IBS or Crohn’s disease. I chose not to accept any of these diagnoses and decided to take it into my own hands. I stumbled across what was called an elimination diet and decided it wouldn’t hurt to try it. After just a few short weeks all of my symptoms went away! It was crazy and I couldn’t believe that food has such a negative effect on my body and made me so sick! Fast forward 10 years….. I’m a wife, mother, and wellness chef. I founded The Mountain Wellness Bar and Mountain Meals to provide a healthy food option away from your typical fast food choices or processed meals. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business has its challenges but running a food business is another story. The restaurant industry is challenging because there are so many! Everyone thinks they’re the best only to find out there are 20 others that they think they’re the best too. Our story is different I didn’t set out to own a restaurant or a meal delivery company. I honestly never wanted to own my restaurant because I knew of all these challenges but I realized my concept was very different and not your typical restaurant. I wanted to help people/ families eat healthy who didn’t have the time but were conscious about what they put in their bodies. My timing wasn’t great for starting a food business as covid was just right around the corner. We went through tons of shortages, cost inflations, employee shortages and so much more. It’s been a crazy few years but I wouldn’t take it back. Bringing real food to my community brings me such joy!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t give up on your health! I started this company because of my own health problems. I healed all my health problems by changing the way I ate. You can too! Food is medicine!
