Inspiring Conversations with Andrea Ceballos of Luxe Shade Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Ceballos.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband, Sebastian, and I are proud parents of two young children and co-owners of a growing family business. I have been a licensed hairstylist for over 25 years and owned and operated a successful salon for five and a half years. While I truly valued that experience and the relationships I built, we felt called to create something that our children could one day be a part of and eventually take over.

In 2017, we founded Luxe Shade Living, specializing in custom automated blinds for residential spaces. Inspired by my mother-in-law’s success with similar products in Colombia, we saw an opportunity to introduce and grow this market in the United States.

As our business evolved, we expanded into outdoor living by designing and building pergolas—both fully custom and kit-based. Since around 2021, this has become a core part of our work. My husband has a strong passion and talent for creating custom structures that enhance homes, and together we’ve enjoyed bringing those visions to life for our clients.

While we appreciated the craftsmanship of wood pergolas, we wanted to offer a solution with greater durability and longevity—one that could better withstand the elements. This led us to aluminum pergolas, which have become our primary focus. We are especially drawn to their modern, luxury aesthetic, low maintenance, and long-term performance.

Although we are newer to aluminum systems specifically, our experience in the outdoor living industry allows us to confidently design tailored solutions that complement each home’s unique style. Our goal is never a one-size-fits-all product, but rather a fully customized experience for every client.

We are excited about the direction our business is heading and take great pride in building something meaningful for our family—one that our children can grow into and carry forward in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think starting a business is ever “smooth” at first, especially when you decide to start changing direction. But because my mother in law already knew so much about the blinds business, she helped us a lot in the beginning with giving us all the information we needed to sale. But selling something always comes with having to explain how your product is what people want/need and there’s always a little struggle with that in the beginning but once you’ve learned the product well, the product sells itself. I think the biggest struggle jump we’ve made is going from wood pergolas to aluminum because of price point. Explaining to people how much more they will get with their money on the aluminum that will withstand intense weather conditions as well as give you a luxury style outdoor space with automated louvers, lights, fans, heaters, misters etc. Once people see them, they are in love with the look it gives their backyards!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Luxe Shade Living ?
Even though we started with Blinds and wood Pergolas, we want to focus more on Aluminum Pergolas for our readers. We truly feel passionate about this business and want to focus solely on this.
Our aluminum pergolas are custom built to fit any style of house, freestanding or attached. They come with flat roof, open louver, slanted louver, vaulted or automated louvers so you can enjoy full shade or sun shining through. The many add ons include lights, heaters, fans, roller shades, misters, sound systems, etc.
All of which, give a luxury look to your outdoor space.
They can withstand wind speeds up to 160 mph and a snow weight capacity of up to 70 lbs per square foot.
They come in 15 different colors while other comparable companies only have 6.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husbands Mom first, with her successful blinds business in Colombia. As for the Pergola business, Outdoor Elements is our main manufacturer that we get the custom designs from. Their product is absolutely amazing and have an amazing warranty. We also have partnered with Bon Pergola that sells aluminum kits that have been a great seller for those looking for the aluminum style but in a more affordable range. Not as many options but still amazing a durable. Also, Aeromist is who we get our misters from for the pergolas and they have been amazing. Their product is great and we’ve never had any complaints on functionality.
