Today we’d like to introduce you to Benji Ward.
Hi Benji, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We launched in November 2024, I took an old carwash and c converted it into what we have now. We are still very new and are constantly on the go and shifting ideas to see what works and doesn’t work for us. We now offer full mechanical services to either maintain or build out off road vehicles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always and will be learning curves and adjustments that need to be addressed. For us, we’re very real and knew that before going into it. We live near a US ray based named Fort Leonard Wood. They rotate most of their service members every 2 years. We are near the Mark Twain National Forest and there’s plenty of disperse camping and trails people can take advantage of if they choose to do so. We’re also 3.5 hours away to the heard of the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Midwest Adventure Outfitters?
We are a one stop shop for those in to outdoor vehicular recreation. Commonly referred to as overlanding. We supply camping and off-road gear such as roof top tents, bumpers, lights, recovery ropes, extra fuel solutions and water, onboard power. We even offer mechanical and install services that meets or exceeds the customers expectations for their adventure rig. Specializing in vintage (late 70s-early 2000 Toyotas/jeeps). Vehicles most shops won’t touch simply because its old technology new techs and shops know very little about. Making us a one stop shop, if you will.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We pride ourselves in being detail oriented. Especially when it comes down to the tiniest details. We take pride in our name and are not afraid to say, “we did that”.
Communication is also very important. We don’t assume nor do we expect the customer to have as much knowledge about the gear or any mechanical issues that arise. We explain things that make sense without talking over them, we want to make our customers feel like rockstars. Most shops look at them as dollar signs, we see relationships.
