Inspiring Conversations with Britanee Walker of Britanee Jean Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britanee Walker.

Hi Britanee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up with a mom that was always taking photos of us. She’d then display them in our home and scrapbook them. We have so many memories captured because of her! Photos became even more important to me after I was married and we had kids. Before having our 2nd baby, we bought a basic DSLR camera and I promised my husband I’d learn all about it. I was determined to get good photos of my children. After googling and reading all the blogs (before Pinterest), I learned every button and all the settings. I learned to edit photos and then had people start to ask if I’d take their photos. It grew from there! I’ve upgraded my equipment along the way and have continued my education. I love learning new things!

I’ve been a professional photographer for about 5 years! While I love photographing all the different types of niches, I now specialize in family and brand photography. Family sessions and working with brands are my faves!

I love having fun and making kids laugh during family sessions and then being the hype girl at brand sessions and being able to help brands & companies capture their visions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not haha! It’s never been a smooth road. I finally felt like I was getting the hang of it, getting confidence…and the pandemic hit. I immediately lost all of my income while still having to pay all my business fees. It was hard but a great learning opportunity (looking back now).

My business has definitely gone through its own bumps in the road but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love that it’s my business, that they’re my clients, and that my family’s seeing me work hard for my dreams. It brings me immense joy (& lots of tears).

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own my own photography business, Britanee Jean Photography. I specialize in Family and Brand Photography and mainly serve Utah and Salt Lake counties (though I love to travel as well!). I love the sweet chaos that happens during family sessions (it really is fun!), being your hype girl at your brand session, and being able to capture your vision for your products. It really is the best!

I have different session offerings or packages for all niches. They’re all available on my site (britaneejean.com). I love discovery calls with brands to see if we’re a good fit and am happy to talk over text or email as well for any inquiries.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the small-town feel of my area! I also love that we’re growing but the “downtown” area is still giving small-town vibes. I never thought I’d live here but I really do love it.
