Hi Cameron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
With a passion for creating and building, I started C | C Builders in 2019 to provide Utah with a residential general contractor who would get projects done on time, on budget, and give customers the superior service that they deserve. All throughout my life, I have been at my happiest when I was working with my hands, creating something. I’ve built tree houses, an electric motorcycle, furniture, you name it. It wasn’t until college, however, when I took a job in construction for a home builder that I started building homes too. I worked a few different jobs in construction–both residential and commercial–before deciding I wanted to start my own building company focusing on building clean and energy-efficient projects. I value hard work, communication, and integrity. This company is built on those values, ensuring that they are at the forefront of my mind on every project.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I certainly wouldn’t say the road has been smooth, but I’ve learned so much from the bumps I’ve encountered so far. As with starting anything, my partner and I have experienced plenty of growing pains in starting this business. We’ve been blessed to have many mentors to help us through bumps and growing pains, but we’ve had to learn a lot. We’ve had to find a balance between work and life because when running your own business, there is no “clocking out”. It’s easy for work to creep home and take up every second of the day. We’ve also had to learn how to juggle–and pass off–multiple hats as we’ve grown and developed different needs.

C | C Builders is a residential general contractor and builder in Utah specializing in large home remodels, additions, and new home construction. We are passive home certified, which is a voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, which reduces the building’s ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling in a way that is affordable and comfortable.
Our trusted team helps our clients every step of the way: from pre-construction planning to your finished living space. We pride ourselves on precise planning, superior service, an attitude of collaboration, and quality craftsmanship – things we have found essential in creating a positive building experience for our clients from the beginning to the end of their home project.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Prior to actually going out on my own, I had the opportunity to interview ten entrepreneurs from different industries, which was such a great opportunity to learn, get input, direction, and advice. I would advise anyone wanting to start a business to take the opportunity to talk to entrepreneurs. Even though every industry is different, business always meets in the middle.
There were times that I was so excited to start working for myself, that I just wanted to quit my day job and get out there. However, I’m so grateful that I took the time up front to work out a business plan and get various processes put in place. Take the time to plan out things like your target market, get your financial strategy in place, and a solid team built.
Get a support group, whether it be business mentors, a group of other entrepreneurs, or even friends and family. Starting a business and growing a business can be difficult and doing it on your own is unnecessary.
