Inspiring Conversations with Colette Ruff of CNB Essentials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colette Ruff.

Hi Colette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Utah and moved to Austin to raise my sons. There I received my esthetics license as well as becoming certified in Reiki energy work. While working at a major skin clinic in Austin I became certified in oncology esthetics, nutrition and studied herbology and the benefits for the skin and the system, as well as the impact on cancer patients. I had way too many friends going through cancer and wanted to be able to care for them without harm and give them a sense of their beauty and relax their system while going through treatment.

In 2022 I moved back to the mountains of Utah and scaled my practice down to performing natural, holistic facials and skin care. I started volunteering at the Survivor Wellness House in SLC for a couple of years and was introduced to Image Reborn, a non-profit organization that offers retreats for women going through breast cancer. At Image Reborn I get a chance to give facials to clients from across the country experiencing the new normal of their cancer journey and allow them to see and feel their beauty. I absolutely love what I do and feel extremely grateful to work with such a special group of women. Lately I have been working with other women hosting retreats and offering facials as well as energy work to their clients and giving them a chance to relax and learn more about their self care and beauty.

It is so important to care for our whole system, inside and out. What we put into our body and on our skin as well as how we engage with ourselves. From that I created the Real Authentic Woman (RAW) 21-day practice involving self care and embodying the whole person, mind, body and spirit. I also infuse all my oils from plants grown here in Utah and use them consistently in my facials and sell to my clients. I created this line when I moved to Utah to counteract the dry climate that can be harsh to our skin.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In Austin I had a constant network of friends and clients. When I moved back to my hometown, I was basically starting my business from scratch. What I do is not a quick fix, but I fundamentally believe we can achieve a healthy natural glow to our skin by using products that aren’t harmful or carcinogenic. I give your system and your skin a chance to relax and regenerate naturally as we age. Getting clients to understand the importance of caring for their skin and system naturally without chemicals has been interesting, especially working with cancer patients.

As you know, we’re big fans of CNB Essentials. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a licensed Esthetician that specializes in caring for cancer patients as well as clients with compromised and sensitive skin. I create natural products that I use in all my facials. Everyones skin and system
Is unique which means every facials is specific to each client. In all my facials I use massage and activate the meridians in our face to release a relaxing energy throughout the system. I also perform Reiki on clients to allow their system to regenerate while releasing stuck energy so their whole system can function properly.

I believe whatever you put into the body shows up on the face. Using my knowledge and skills as a certified nutritionist and herbologist, I work with clients to generate healthy, clear skin as well as healthy habits and nutrition to help them care for their entire system on a daily. That is why I created the Real Authentic Woman (RAW) practice. A 21-day practice personalized for each individual to become their most authentic self by using nutrition, journaling, grounding and practical self care that brings them back to themselves regardless of what is going on in the outside world.

I am one of the few estheticians oncology trained and certified working in Utah. I have been working with cancer patients for the last 7 years and feel honored to help every client see their beauty and help their system relax while going through their journey.

All of my oils are designed to perform the same way as many of the products on the market, but without chemicals, allowing gentle, deep healing and hydration for a more holistic way of aging.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I absolutely love what I do on every level and honored I get to work with such an ever growing population of cancer care on a different level than medical. I am happy to give them a space where they can relax and feel cared for without the poking and prodding. I get to love on them for 30-60 minutes and give them a reprieve from their usual schedule. Happy to be back in the mountains and look forward to seeing more clients and helping them care for their skin and system in a natural holistic way. I send out a bi-weekly email about the moon cycles, tips and information about how best to care for your sweet self.
