Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinee Croft
Hi Destinee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I randomly one day decided I wanted to get a camera and drained my savings buying it. But I didn’t know how to use it or where to even start. But about a year later I had my senior photos. And the photographer who took my photos, Aubrey Austad, answered all my questions. I always credit her with the beginning success of my business. Because a ton of photographers would have kept those answers to themselves and she was so willing to help me and still does! After that I made an Instagram account and started shooting free photo shoots. And I have been shooting ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I mean the first couple of months the business really took off! But with busy seasons also comes slow ones and you just have to take that with a grain of salt. But as far as the road honestly I have been lucky with the success of my business. Again I credit that to Aubrey who has been a mentor for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Destinee’s.Shots?
I am a photographer. I am known for candid photos. So I take more of in the moment photos rather than poses. Except for the occasional family photo or team shot! I am just proud that I have come so far. It really was just a dream and for it to flourish into anything is amazing. I also pride myself on being affordable and being as transparent with my prices as much as possible.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
You don’t have to do only one thing. I think society really puts that expectation out there that you have to pick one thing and do it. But that is totally untrue and if you want to do something. Just do it. I personally think being able to watch your business grow is the best part.
