Inspiring Conversations with Franybek & Francy Rojas of Migajas Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franybek & Francy Rojas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Of course! Migajas Bakery is a dream my sister Frany and I carried in our hearts for many years. Frany started baking when she was just 9 or 10 years old her passion for sweets and constant drive to improve only grew as we got older. I had the best role: tasting everything she made and watching her love for baking turn into something truly special.

After five long years of being apart due to migration from our home country, we were finally reunited in Utah. During that time apart, we promised each other that one day we would open our own bakery and that’s exactly what we did. We founded Migajas as a way to turn our shared love for baking into something meaningful.

I call her my teacher because I’m always learning from her. We work side by side now, creating every dessert with intention, love, and a sprinkle of fun. One of our favorite traditions is tasting everything together before it goes to our customers, it’s our way of making sure each bite is something we’d be proud to serve to the people we love.

Migajas is more than a business for us, it’s the fulfillment of a promise, the celebration of family, and the joy of sharing something sweet with the world. We’re so grateful for everyone who’s joined us on this journey!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, it’s been a beautiful journey, but definitely not a smooth one. Like many small business owners, we’ve faced our share of challenges. Starting from scratch in a new country came with its own set of difficulties: adapting to a new culture, language barriers, and learning how to navigate the business world here in the U.S. was not easy.

At the beginning, we didn’t have fancy equipment or a big space—just our determination, a home kitchen, and lots of late nights. There were moments of doubt, financial stress, and even days when things didn’t turn out the way we planned. But through every struggle, we held onto our “why”: the promise we made to each other, the love for what we do, and the joy we feel when our customers enjoy our creations.

And while we’re not yet where we want to be, we continue to believe in our dream. With consistency, determination, and a lot of heart, we know we’ll get there. One day, we’ll open the doors to our very own location, a space filled with warmth, sweetness, and the same love that’s fueled us since day one. We imagine our community gathering there, celebrating life’s moments, and sharing in the joy of living a sweet life.

Every challenge has shaped us, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come. The best part? The journey is just getting started.

We’ve been impressed with Migajas Bakery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Migajas Bakery is a Latina-owned, sister run business based in Utah, founded by two passionate Latina women who turned a lifelong dream into a growing brand. We specialize in handcrafted French macarons, cookies, custom cakes, and desserts for all occasions. Every treat is made with love, precision, and a desire to turn everyday moments into something worth celebrating.

We’re especially known for our macarons delicate, colorful, and full of bold, unique flavors that often reflect our Latin roots as well as local favorites. We love to play with textures, fillings, and colors to make each macaron not just a dessert, but an experience.

What sets Migajas apart is our story and the love behind the brand. We’re two sisters, reunited after years of being apart due to migration, and we promised ourselves that we’d build something meaningful together. Frany is the artist in the kitchen, and I, Francy, am her proud student and partner. Together, we create with heart, intention, and a deep appreciation for our journey.

We are most proud of how our brand represents resilience, creativity, and tradition. Migajas is more than just sweets; it’s family, culture, and celebration in every bite. Our goal is to create desserts that are not only beautiful and delicious, but that connect people, create joy, and bring warmth to every table.

To anyone discovering us: we want you to know that when you support Migajas, you’re not just buying a dessert—you’re supporting a dream, a sisterhood, and a little piece of Latin sweetness made with purpose.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What we love most about our city is the strong sense of community. Utah has welcomed us with open arms, and we’re so grateful for the support and kindness we’ve received since day one. People here truly value small businesses, and there’s a growing appreciation for handmade, artisan products, which makes sharing our desserts even more special. The beautiful landscapes and peaceful environment also make it a lovely place to live and grow a business.

As for what we like least, it’s a tough one, but if we had to choose, we’d say that sometimes it can be challenging to introduce new or culturally diverse flavors, especially in a market that’s still learning to explore beyond the familiar. But honestly, that just motivates us more! We love having the opportunity to share a little bit of our culture and creativity through what we do. Watching people try something new and fall in love with it, that’s one of the most rewarding parts.
