Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Fowler.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My father started the business in 1985. I joined in 1996 out of college. He created Air & Sea with a focus on customer service, something he had seen as a problem in the logistics industry for years. We have managed the company from three employees to 25 in 26 years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the logistics industry, every year is either up or down, with massive swings. Take last year, for example. It was the busiest year we have ever had (due to Covid) as we had to turn away customers as we could not service them. This year has been the polar opposite as consumers are no longer spending and inventory levels are full.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Air & Sea is a regional freight forwarder and customs house broker located in Murray, Utah. We specialize in right-fit solutions for our clients from large multinationals to small business. Our brand is hands-on customer service and flexibility. As large freight forwarders give their clients limited options, we find the pain points of our customers and address them head-on.
What does success mean to you?
In life: being able to look myself in the mirror and feel good about the choices I’ve made in life.
In business: long-term customer retention and long-term employee retention. We want our employees and clients to succeed in their goals.
