Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Gomez.
Hi Julian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started when my cousin Joe Flores talked to me about becoming a barber. Never did I think about it until he put it into my mind to consider pursuing a career. It’ll be 7 years this upcoming April since I’ve been apart of his business and it’s been a great experience that I never would’ve imagined. Becoming a barber was so brand new to me. I didn’t know how to do anything at first. I had to accept that I wasn’t where I wanted to be yet but I knew with a mentor like my cousin Joe I knew with time I would eventually get to where i wanted to be if I didn’t give up. I owe all of my success to Joe & Kayla Flores for taking a chance on me and for laying the blueprint out for me to follow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never been a smooth road pursuing barbering. That’s not the way to success if you expect everything to go your way. Life happens and really tests your faith when you’re chasing a dream. There was plenty of times I wanted to quit or I thought to myself that maybe this isn’t for me. My quality as a barber was a struggle and I knew it was something I wanted to overcome and sharpen.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I’m most proud of being apart of Tailored Barber Co. is knowing how great of people Joe & Kayla are. They have found the blueprint on what it takes to be successful in this industry and are willing to help anyone who wants to take their career to the next level. Every year I’ve been here I’ve seen a lot of growth and expansion in the business. At Tailored we now have an expansion side at our Roy location that is a booth rent space but not just for barbers. It allows tattoo artist and nail technicians the space to work in which I think is amazing. I’ve been the manager of the business for 3 years and learning that role has made me grow in so many ways. If you’re passionate about reaching your goals you have for your life, Joe & Kayla are the best mentors to get you there. Trust the process and Trust the journey and I promise you everything will work out in the end.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family and friends deserve credit for believing in me, I’m so thankful to have a great support system, I would’ve never gotten this far without them..
