Inspiring Conversations with Katie Clifford of Align Epigenetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Clifford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Katie Clifford, and I am a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Epigeneticist.

I began my career in post-operative care, helping patients recover from joint surgery. While this work was meaningful, I often felt care was focused on a single body part, while the interconnected systems and environmental factors influencing healing and long-term health were rarely addressed.

Things changed for me when my husband completed an epigenetic analysis. I was amazed by how much clarity the report provided and how actionable the guidance was. It confirmed what I had been sensing all along—that true healing happens when we look at the whole person. That experience led me to pursue advanced training in epigenetic analysis and build a practice centered on personalized, root-cause care.

Today, through epigenetic hair analysis, I help individuals understand how their body systems are responding to their environment and empower them with practical steps to improve their health and quality of life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges in starting my epigenetic analysis practice has been the constant learning. Epigenetics is an evolving field that requires ongoing education and continued training—something I’ve learned to embrace.

Stepping into self-employment also meant taking on roles I’d never held in a traditional healthcare setting, including marketing, building patient care systems, and developing efficient workflows. While these behind-the-scenes challenges really stretched me, it has been incredibly rewarding to develop new skills and watch my personal style evolve into a practice that is thoughtful, organized, and deeply patient-centered.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Align Epigenetics, we help individuals understand how their body systems are responding to environmental stressors—and what to do about it. Our work is powered by advanced epigenetic technology from Cell Well-Being, a German company internationally recognized for leadership in epigenetic science.

Using hair-based analysis, we’re able to process samples in-office with results available in as little as 15 minutes, or provide at-home testing kits that can be shipped anywhere in the United States. But testing is only the beginning. What truly sets us apart is the guidance that follows. Every client receives a personalized consultation and a clear three-phase plan to address any challenges identified in their results.

We turn large amounts of data into practical, actionable steps so clients feel supported, informed, and confident in their health journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What I love most about our work is connecting the dots within each epigenetic report to uncover what the body is truly communicating. Even more rewarding is empowering people with clear, actionable ways to improve their health—using targeted nutrition, supportive foods, and simple lifestyle changes that can create meaningful, lasting impact.
