Inspiring Conversations with Kaylee Rakowski of Kaylee Rakowski Art LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Rakowski

Hi Kaylee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kaylee Rakowski, a nature lover turned artist. Before I ever picked up a paintbrush, my life was filled with the thrill of outdoor adventures. I was an amateur photographer, capturing the wild beauty of the landscapes I explored. I spent years as a coach and professional athlete, pushing my limits on trails, mountains, and open waters. My heart has always been connected to the sights and sounds of nature.

But in early 2021, everything changed. A serious injury left me unable to do the things I loved most—running, hiking, climbing. I suddenly found myself confined indoors, unable to connect with the natural world that had always been my sanctuary. It was during this challenging time that I stumbled upon an old television show featuring a classic oil painter whose peaceful style of capturing nature scenes on canvas captured my imagination. With no prior experience in painting, I decided to give it a try.

As I began to teach myself how to use oils on canvas, I found a new way to explore the places I could no longer visit physically. Each brushstroke became a journey into the landscapes I loved—tranquil forests, blooming meadows, and distant mountains. Painting allowed me to reconnect with the outdoors, even from the confines of my home. The more I painted, the more I realized that I had discovered a new passion, one that could bring me—and others—closer to the beauty of the natural world.

My style is inspired by some of the greatest wet-on-wet oil landscape and floral artists, including Bob Ross, Bill Alexander, and Lowell Speers. Their techniques have influenced my work, but I’ve also developed my own approach, one that reflects my deep connection to nature and my love for vibrant, dynamic scenes. Today, I create art that brings the outdoors to life, capturing the serene beauty of nature with every brushstroke.

Now, I share my journey with others through my YouTube channel, @kayleerakowskiart, where I offer tutorials and insights into my creative process. I also paint live at art festivals and national street fairs, often completing a piece in under three hours—a challenge that keeps me connected to the spontaneous beauty of the world around me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not everything comes easy, and that’s okay. With anything new, challenges are bound to pop up—but I try to welcome them. If I’m struggling, I remind myself that it means I’m growing. I’m not one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s my computer acting up or my own doubts creeping in. I’ll figure out a way forward, and I’ll make the best of it.

Right now, one of the toughest parts of being a full-time artist is handling the online side of things. I’m constantly comparing—wondering why one video takes off while another doesn’t, or debating if this post or that video is even making an impact. It can feel like a lot of effort for little payoff sometimes. Balancing the roles of “online creator” and “artist” is a juggling act, and I’m still learning how to keep it all in motion.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kaylee Rakowski Art LLC.?
Kaylee Rakowski Art is all about connecting with nature and sharing its beauty through wet-on-wet oil painting. I’m a self-taught artist who fell in love with painting after an injury shifted my path (only 4 years ago). Now, I specialize in creating serene landscapes that bring peace and joy to others.

What makes my work special is that it’s deeply personal—I pour my heart into every piece, whether it’s a tutorial for my YouTube channel, a live painting at a street fair, or a custom commission like an anniversary painting, I even do custom videos for commission paintings now. I love helping others discover their own creativity, and I’m proud to offer a space where art feels approachable and inspiring.

Above all, I want people to feel connected—to nature, to themselves, and to the stories behind the art.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Cooking has been a passion of mine for years, something I’ve loved sharing with friends and family. One day, I hope to bring that passion to life in a space of my own—a studio, café, and gallery combined. I dream of creating a warm, welcoming place with farm-to-table, wholesome food, house-blended teas, and walls filled with art—mine and works from other local artists. It’ll be a space to nourish both body and soul while supporting creativity and community.
