Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Rothman.
Hi Loren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I like to say that Stargazer Social Club was born from my lust for adventure, love of cocktails, and a desire to bring people together in unforgettable ways.
My wife, Toni, has been a wedding florist for nearly a decade, and I always loved being around the joyous, festive atmosphere when I would help her with her work. Having worked in client-facing roles for most of my career, I always loved creating experiences people would be delighted by. I thought I would remain in the corporate world for the rest of my career, but after moving to Moab in 2020, everything shifted. I started to get the itch to be an entrepreneur and start my own business, and after seeing the explosive growth of the wedding industry here, the spark was lit for my passion of creating incredible experiences on lovebirds’ most important days.
Surrounded by the raw natural beauty, star-filled nighttime skies, and epic landscapes of this spectacular place, I felt called to build something that merged my sense of sophistication with that wild energy. I had developed a deep love for the history and craft of cocktails, and I realized I could combine this passion with my keen design sense, creativity, and organizational skills to create something totally unique.
Thus was born the idea of a mobile bar & lounge — a venue on wheels I can drive to extraordinary places and create events that seamlessly blend luxury and the outdoors. I found the perfect vintage bus – a 1981 Crown school bus, which I lovingly nicknamed “Regina”, and set out to convert her into a fully outfitted, elegant mobile event space.
From there, I layered in services: not just bartending, but full event design, furniture & decor rentals, a bridal suite option so the bride and team can get ready in style, and a wedding experience package that turns remote, natural locations into complete, magical event spaces.
Today, Stargazer Social Club serves Moab and select destinations across the American Southwest, bringing “luxury in the wild” to weddings, elopements, private events, and corporate celebrations. When I look back, it feels like everything led here: my design aesthetics, passion for cocktails, love for joyous experiences, a deep respect for nature’s power, and a mission to fuse all of that into something unique, intimate, and unforgettable.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a new business is always an adventure. I’ve definitely had to learn to be flexible and creative in overcoming obstacles along the way. I would say one of the biggest challenges has been marketing my business and finding the clientele that are looking for what I do. With adventure elopements and destination weddings, there are so many different options out there now, so I’ve had to learn how to reach those special people that want to come to Moab to experience my particular vision of luxury in the wild.
Because we have such a sensitive, pristine environment here, I’ve also had to navigate using these lands responsibly and working in concert with the managing agencies to ensure that we respect the laws, regulations and ethics that preserve these incredibly special places for generations to come. I feel a deep responsibility to educate my clients on how we can throw amazing parties that leave no trace.
Being in such a remote place also has its logistical difficulties. There’s no same-day Amazon deliveries here! So I really have to be on top of planning ahead and sourcing supplies effectively.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
What I’m most proud of is creating a totally unique product across the entire US. There’s really nothing like Regina in the country, so it feels really cool to have created something that just blows people’s minds when they see it in person. I can’t tell you how many times guests have come on board the mobile bar & lounge and just stood in awe at the whole thing. It makes my heart sing every time someone comes up to me and says “this is amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it!”
It feels incredible to have expressed so much of my identity, design sense, and personality in the creation of Stargazer Social Club and have clients really be impacted by all of it. When creating a new business, you’re always taking the risk that your specific vision won’t resonate, and it’s so satisfying that so many people really get what we do.
What makes you happy?
I just love seeing all the joyous, smiling faces that come to my bar to enjoy our delicious mixological creations! There’s really nothing better than the joy we bring to the lovely people at every single wedding and event we do. I’m always profoundly appreciative of the opportunity to be part of someone’s best day ever, and it feels amazing to be surrounded by so much love and togetherness all the time.
