Today we’d like to introduce you to Macie Eddy
Hi Macie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Of course, I’m gonna have the typical story any esthetician has of struggling with acne before I got introduced to Esthetics. I’ve always been a very confident individual, obsessed with the gym, but when I got hit with severe cystic acne when I first went to college, my confidence completely shifted. I was desperate and almost convinced I had to go on Accutane until I found an aesthetician in my college town. I didn’t even know what an aesthetician was until I went to one myself in 2018. When I got completely clear holistically and with skin care, I realized I wanted to do the same for other people and decided to go to aesthetician school in 2021. I was a part-time student in esthetician school, so I had about a year and a half to grow my social media and get more involved in my community. I graduated with over 4000 followers outside of school and immediately started working for an amazing job in the industry. Within a couple months, I quickly realized that working for someone else wasn’t for me and I decided to go solo. That’s the best decision I could’ve ever made. I specialize in acne, pigmentation, and Hydrafacial and I will never go back. It’s been so fulfilling to help both clients in the treatment room, and other aestheticians in the industry with their social media and businesses.
My business has been open for a little over a year now and I love to see how my business model has evolved over the year. I thought that to be successful, I had to be booked with in person clients all day, but I’ve really leveraged the virtual world and I’ve been able to help other aestheticians with their branding, Instagram, and social media. I have a super successful subscription on Instagram as well. It’s been so much fun to wear all the hats, whether it’s on social media, e-commerce from my website, or in the treatment room.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Do you know what has been the hardest part for me? TIME. As an impatient girlie, it’s been difficult to realize that success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to show up every single day, regardless of whether you have full books or not, and keep showing up until you achieve what you want to achieve. And after you achieve that, you’re always gonna be hungry for the next greatest thing. You’re always gonna wanna grow, you’re always gonna want to challenge yourself and you’re always gonna want more. So it’s a constant game that you’re playing. I’ve definitely learned a lot of life lessons since opening up my business and it has not been a rainbow and butterfly process for sure. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We’ve been impressed with FACEBYMACE, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m your Hydrafacial QUEEN! If you want the best Hydrafacial in Utah, I’m your gal. I even have it on my license plate. I’m that good
I specialize in acne and pigmentation, since that is something I personally struggle with and can resonate with the most!
90% of my business is virtual and social media based. It’s a healthy mixture of social media influencing, branding consults with other estheticians in the industry, an Instagram subscription, and an e-commerce website where you can place orders. I do it all myself! I’m a one woman show
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I vividly remember my pretty pretty princess game I would always play. It was a board game with bracelets and a special crown. I didn’t even play the game. I just loved the jewelry. I had a little plastic pink and blue vanity I would sit at, where I would play with my wooden makeup and cover myself in my pretty pretty princess bracelets and necklaces galore. All I gotta say is not much has changed.
