Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Tueller.
Hi Mindy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
While my story begins long before I was born, for purposes of this article, I’ll begin with my breakdown.
My father died somewhat unexpectedly in 2018. About 6 months later, as I was going through his things, a lifetime of anger, blame, hurt and sadness cracked me wide open, and I had a panic attack that lasted that whole night. The next morning, I knew I had to do things differently in my life.
That started me on a path that has included good (in fact, great!) therapy, beginning to really look at myself honestly, and then to find a beautiful psychedelic facilitator, who helped me with a profound experience. I received several messages that day that I will never forget, and have been life-changing. My brain truly was reset that day in many ways. As the weeks passed afterwards, though, some of my old patterns began to surface once again. A few months later, I had the immense good fortune to participate in a coaching program that helped me to see where I was sabotaging myself. It gave me tools to stop my negative thought loops, and to build my mental muscles so that I can control my mind, rather than it controlling me. That coaching program (Positive Intelligence) and my daily mental fitness practice have been as impactful to my mindset as my psilocybin journey, if not more so.
I am a health educator by background, and I have long known that eating well, getting good rest, exercising, and practicing gratitude are key for our wellbeing and resiliency. I now have the privilege of sharing all of this incredible knowledge with others: the pillars of good health, AND mental fitness, AND the power of plant medicine. It’s a pretty cool recipe for a present, fulfilled, fully conscious life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m not sure that anyone has had it all smooth. We can’t know joy if we haven’t had challenges and felt the difficult emotions. It’s all for us, for our growth.
A big loss in my life was the death of my 9 year old daughter in 2000. I miss her very much. That one has been challenging. And I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if it hadn’t have happened. It is part of my path in this life.
Other potholes in my road were often self-made. I have had the ups and downs of marriage and divorce. I have tried to control others rather than allow and accept. I have experienced financial struggles that weren’t necessary. And I’ve developed maladaptive behaviors to avoid feelings that are uncomfortable.
All of these experiences have helped me better understand what life has been like for so many people, and I have a great deal empathy for my fellow humans as a result. This being human is not easy (!), and we need each other to make it through and to have joy, awe, and wonder, which everyone of us deserves.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Conscious Life Coaching, LLC?
I am a health coach and educator. I have a masters degree in Health Education and Promotion, and I’m a Master Certified Health Education Specialist. I am a certified health and wellness coach, a Positive Intelligence Ⓡ mental fitness coach, and a certified microdosing coach. My business is called Conscious Life Coaching, and I hope it attracts those who are interested in moving out of auto-pilot and into a conscious, aware life. It’s not always fun, being aware, but I believe it is much more fulfilling. And we only get one life, as far as I know, so why not make it a fully-lived one!
I primarily work with women, and I love helping women who are peri-menopausal or post-menopausal, because of my health background and my own experience with this. It turns out that mental fitness can be a huge help navigating this period of a woman’s life, and getting hormones figured out is likely a requirement, too. I can help women work with their healthcare providers to get the right bloodwork done, to find options for hormone replacement therapy if it is warranted, and to boost their health with anti-inflammatory and supportive interventions, which may include microdosing. I really enjoy working with women who feel neurodivergent (which, come on, is probably every one of us to some degree).
The Positive IntelligenceⓇ program is fantastic for couples, as well. I have had the honor of working with many couples, and the deepened understanding, connection, and closeness I get to see up close is beautiful. The mental fitness that comes from the Positive Intelligence program has documented improvements to wellbeing, performance, and relationships. For life!
In coaching good health practices, I don’t subscribe to the latest trend of bio-hacking this or supplementing with that. I focus on the basics, which never go out of style. These are: healthy social connection, gratitude, mindfulness, breathing correctly, healthy nutrition, exercise, and good sleep. These are powerful ways to feel better! And they can be difficult to practice in this world where everything is grabbing for our attention.
What sets me apart from others, I think, is that I coach from strengths. I recognize that everyone is amazing; everyone has super powers. I notice positive, unique things that my clients may have forgotten or haven’t observed about themselves. I am a judgment-free zone, and I care deeply about my clients. I get to know my clients well and provide thoughtful, curated support.
My favorite way of working with a client is to begin with the 6 week Positive IntelligenceⓇ program, which helps create new, positive neural pathways by seeing our Saboteurs, getting present, and actively choosing to be in our Sage minds. Then, to begin a 6 week microdosing routine while continuing to meet weekly, which takes full advantage of their new mental muscles to expand their Window of Tolerance with additional nervous system regulation tools. After the 12 weeks, I recommend they join my Microdosing with Mindy coaching group, which meets virtually twice a month, and includes microdosing reminders, education and other positive resources, and peer support.
A few questions that readers may have at this point are, “What is microdosing?” “What are the microdosing substances?” and “Where do I get them?”
Microdosing means taking a very small amount of a psychedelic substance, usually about one-tenth to one-twentieth of a full dose. It is small enough that you don’t feel high or hallucinate – you can go about your day completely normally. The goal is gentle, consistent support for your mood, focus, nervous system, and overall wellbeing, not an altered experience.
The substances I know best to support clients in microdosing are psilocybin (magic mushrooms), LSD, and San Pedro (mescaline cactus).
Currently, these substances are classified as Schedule I drugs. That said, the legal landscape is rapidly shifting. A number of states have decriminalized them and are actively allowing their use in certain circumstances, including religious use. Within the context of a coaching relationship, I can help clients navigate this process thoughtfully.
How do you define success?
Great question, and such an important one. Success is an intrinsic thing for me. I am successful. Because I know who I am.
I believe we arrive here fully formed, with all the knowledge we need inside us. It’s really about being quiet and present with what is deep inside us, even (and perhaps most importantly) the scary/scared stuff. When we can love our flawed selves, we can see the unique beauty that each of us is. This is without ego, and it’s when we can step fully into our super powers … I believe the reason we are here is to share those super powers. My favorite quote is from Carl Rodgers, a visionary and humble psychologist who helped shape that field in the 1950s. It is, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Helping others feels wonderful – it’s the icing on the cake. When I see those I’ve worked with doing well, spreading love and positivity, I see the ripple effect in action, and I have such hope for this world.
