Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Tapia.
Hi Natalie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career as Videographer nearly four years ago. My entire life was filled with home videos and movies that I’d create for my friends and family, but it was a friend’s wedding in February of 2018 that kickstarted my passion for Wedding Photography and Videography! My primary focus for three years was on filmmaking.
In early 2021, I began teaching myself photography as well and eventually transitioned my business into a full-time wedding photo and film business! My husband learned how to film with my equipment and now we have the opportunity to travel all over the country working weddings together as a husband and wife team!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first started my business, I was working three other jobs: managing apartments, running an entire department on my school’s campus and working at a retail store. I was also a full-time student, and very newly married. Managing my time became extremely difficult and I knew that I needed to prioritize my time wisely. Because of this, I had to take a major step away from Tapia Vision until I was ready to commit full-time.
After graduating college, welcoming our first child, and moving out of state, I knew that it was time for me to take that leap of faith and completely transition to a full-time photographer and videographer! And as terrifying as it was making the change, it was the greatest thing I could have ever done for my business!
As you know, we’re big fans of Tapia Vision. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My husband, Gabriel, and I run this business together. We are set apart as a business because we are a professional Wedding Photography and Videography team. We offer our clients the option to book us solely for photography or videography, or BOTH! If a client prefers either one or the other, I (Natalie) will run the productions and be at the events.
If we’re booked for both, Gabriel will come along and we work the wedding together! We have traveled around the country doing destination weddings in Hawaii, Florida, Colorado, California, and more! We are most proud of the transitions we’ve made into becoming a husband and wife team and that we’re able to adapt to every wedding.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We’ve been very blessed. I could easily tie bookings to luck, but I work hard to market our business organically and consider all of my clients to be earned. Almost all of the inquiries I’ve received from past and present clients have come because I’ve worked hard to make a name for myself and expand into every area I have an interest in.
Although, I do feel very LUCKY to have met the people I’ve met because of my work.
