Inspiring Conversations with Rick Brunson of Book Ease, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Brunson.

Hi Rick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My bookkeeping business started in 2009, the same year I began my Master’s program in accounting. I was looking for a side hustle in accounting to support myself through school, and bookkeeping seemed like a good fit because it was both enjoyable and practical. At that time, my cousin, Russell Brunson, was helping entrepreneurs make money online through his educational courses and, later, through his website-building software, Clickfunnels. I began marketing my bookkeeping services to his followers, which proved to be a great fit for both parties.

The business started small, with only a few clients, but through word of mouth, it gradually grew. Since then, we have expanded from just myself to a team of ten employees, and together we have provided bookkeeping services for over 500 companies across the United States.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business from scratch is never easy. While the bookkeeping and accounting came naturally due to my accounting degrees, finding new clients and implementing practical, effective bookkeeping systems for both my clients and employees was a much greater challenge. You can be the best bookkeeper in the world, but if no one knows about your services, you won’t make much money. This is true for every business, and it certainly was for mine.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We offer remote bookkeeping services for small businesses accross the United States. We are very affordable, with services starting at $150.00 per month, and we always hit our deadlines and do quality work.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am of the opinion that it doesn’t matter what books you read, as long as you are reading. Reading is the most efficient way to compress decades of experience into hours. Many authors spend years—sometimes decades—studying the subjects of their books. By reading their work in a day, a week, or even a month, you’re leveraging someone else’s hard-earned expertise in a fraction of the time. Repeat this process over and over, and you quickly acquire knowledge and skills that few others possess.
