Inspiring Conversations with Shiree Best of Living in Joy LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiree Best

Hi Shiree, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I never wanted to start a podcast. I was seeking direction on what to niche my life-coaching business on when the super-clear direction came: “Start a podcast to help people whose loved ones have left their faith.”

Living in Utah, there are a lot of people, especially young people, who have left the faith they were raised in. I have experienced this first hand. We raised our seven children in our chosen faith, and six of those seven have chosen to leave.

When this first began to happen in our family I was devastated, and with each successive child who left I became more devastated. Because of my feelings, I acted in ways that damaged my relationships with my children. As I began to look inside, and became more healthy, I learned to let go and love my children for the amazing people they are.

After years of working through all of that, I wanted to close the door on all that pain and move forward, so when the prompting came to start a podcast and talk about this all the time, I literally cried. I didn’t want to do it. But I did. I realized I needed to help other people work through their feelings, stop damaging themselves and the relationships they care about most. I had to help them. So I do. I talk about it every week.

I share my own experiences. I interview people who share their stories and have helpful wisdom and insight to share. I interview relationship experts. I interview those who have left, so people can understand their side and the pain they have gone through as well. My ultimate goal is to help heal relationships, to help us all find peace and acceptance with each other’s choices, and to see our loved ones for the amazing people they are.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In some ways it has been smooth, in other ways very challenging! I have never been a techy person, just ask my husband and kids! So figuring out how to start a podcast, even figuring out what a “platform” was, how to get it on the various platforms, editing, music, uploading. It was a huge learning curve! Luckily God blessed me with two friends who either had, or were getting ready to start, their own podcasts, and that was a huge help!

The part that has been smooth has been people to interview and topics to talk about. I feel like God sends me the ideas and the people. I have had some amazing guests this past year, and have more amazing guests lined up for 2025. It’s very exciting!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Living in Joy LLC?
Living in Joy is all about helping people find peace and move forward when life gets tough. My work has two main parts:

1. One-on-One Life Coaching
I work with people who are struggling, especially those whose loved ones have left their faith. But I also coach clients through all kinds of challenges—whether it’s working through marital issues or figuring out what they want to do with their lives. My goal is to provide a safe space where people feel heard and supported, and to help them find clarity and confidence to move forward.

2. “Just Love Them” Podcast
The Just Love Them podcast is a weekly show that’s close to my heart. It’s all about finding peace, acceptance, and love when the people we care about make choices we don’t expect—especially when they step away from their faith. Through stories, interviews, and personal insights, we talk about how to navigate these situations with love and understanding. The name says it all: Just Love Them.

If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s this: you’re not alone. If your heart hurts because of a loved one’s choices, there’s help available. Whether it’s through listening to the podcast or working with me one-on-one, you don’t have to go through it alone. There’s hope, there’s peace, and there’s a way forward.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t realize that I’m actually an introvert. Stepping out of my comfort zone is something I do regularly because I care deeply about people and feel a strong calling to help them. My love for connecting with others and making a difference always outweighs my natural tendency to stay in the background
