Today we’d like to introduce you to Waleska M Dorante
Waleska M, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career as a bartender about ten years ago in my home country, Venezuela. While studying to become an international chef, I took a mixology course that completely captivated me. That experience ignited my passion for cocktails, leading me to take additional classes and courses to deepen my knowledge of mixology.
During my university years, I started working at a well-known bar in my hometown, Barquisimeto, called Barrica Bar, a speakeasy-style venue. I loved being there. Initially, I worked as a barback, but through dedication and hard work, I gradually moved up until I earned my own station. I learned a great deal from my colleagues, who were patient and supportive. However, I always had a clear goal in mind: to establish myself as one of the best bartenders in the industry.
After some time, I had the opportunity to participate in a cocktail competition featuring various restaurants and bars. I represented the bar where I was working at the time and won first place. That victory helped me gain recognition in my city and strengthened my confidence in my craft.
Due to the economic situation in Venezuela, I made the difficult decision to emigrate to the United States. I initially lived for a short time in Miami, Florida, where I worked as a bartender at a nightclub. That experience allowed me to meet new people and better understand the alcohol industry in the U.S. However, I soon decided to relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah, where I currently reside.
In Utah, I started working as a bartender at a Mexican restaurant, an opportunity for which I am deeply grateful. I also worked for two to three years at a well-known Latin nightclub in Salt Lake City. Given the state’s strict alcohol regulations, I dedicated myself to continuously learning and adapting to the unique way the industry operates here.
In 2022, I took a leap of faith and launched my own mobile bar business. Initially, I worked at small events on a trade-exchange basis, without generating significant income. However, as time went on, more people started recognizing my work. Social media has played a crucial role in my growth—creating content and staying consistent have been essential in building what is now my client base.
Since then, my business has flourished. Today, I have a team of three certified bartenders, all licensed to serve alcohol in the state of Utah. We cater to a variety of events and often manage multiple bookings in a single weekend. I am incredibly grateful for every opportunity that has come my way, and above all, I deeply appreciate the warm reception and support from the Salt Lake City community. This journey continues, and I look forward to seeing where it takes me next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been easy for various reasons—being an immigrant, the language barrier, and the strict alcohol regulations in this state, which make licensing a challenging process. However, while it is not easy, it is certainly not impossible.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a mobile bar service for all types of events, including weddings, baby showers, gender reveals, birthdays, and more. We offer both mocktails and cocktails tailored to different occasions.

We understand that each celebration is unique, and we strive to connect with our clients, empathize with their vision, and ensure that their wedding or event is exactly as they imagined. Every detail of our bar setup is carefully curated to create a flawless experience.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m not much of a reader, but I enjoy books on personal growth and mindset management. Right now, I’m reading one called *”Preocupate menos y ora mas,”* and it has helped me let go and stop worrying about things I can’t control.
