We recently had the chance to connect with Des Loveless and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Des, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding a lot of joy in surrounding myself with high-quality, kind-hearted people who not only share the same drive and aspirations but also have a genuine joy for life. Being in the presence of those who are both ambitious and uplifting has been incredibly grounding and inspiring—it reminds me that success isn’t just about the hustle, but also about the energy and character of the people you choose to grow with.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m essentially a multi-hyphenate in the fashion industry, with experience in editorial and commercial photography, wardrobe styling, and creative direction. I’ve also worked behind the scenes in film as both a production assistant and wardrobe stylist. My work also extends into branding, marketing, and content creation for fashion brands. Currently, I have the incredible opportunity to work in the high-end bridal space—attending fashion weeks and creating content for amazing designers.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Both of my parents are incredibly hard-working and creative, and they came from very humble beginnings. My mom has always been a fashionista and a natural leader, working her way up as a manager, while my dad is an artist at heart with a flooring business. They did everything themselves—from growing their careers to building their dream home from scratch. Watching them hustle, create, and never wait for someone else to figure it out taught me to do the same. That blend of creativity, resilience, and relentless drive is a huge part of who I am today.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
When everything feels heavy, you start to appreciate even the smallest moments of peace and kindness. It also built my work ethic—because pushing through hard times showed me that real growth doesn’t come from things being easy, it comes from showing up, staying disciplined, and refusing to quit. Success can feel rewarding, but suffering taught me the value behind it.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say what matters most to me is how I make others feel. I care deeply about showing up for the people in my life—whether that’s being supportive, celebrating their wins, or just being someone they can count on.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I had a big heart and always tried my best. That despite the trauma and battles I faced, I never let them define me—I overcame them and kept moving forward. And I hope they remember that I poured myself into the field I’ve always been passionate about, and accomplished things I once only dreamed of.
