We’re looking forward to introducing you to Irene Katzias. Check out our conversation below.
Irene, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that’s bringing me so much joy lately is watching my twin girls grow into their own little people. They just turned four and are learning to read, and seeing them recognize words at the grocery store or in their bedtime books has been such a full-circle moment for me. It makes me incredibly proud to watch who they are becoming.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Irene Katzias, the founder and lead planner of Irene and Co Events. I have spent the past ten years designing and planning weddings across Connecticut, Utah, and New York with a hands on and high end approach that focuses on telling your love story one detail at a time. My work blends luxury logistics with real world connection, meaning every wedding is intentionally curated, deeply personal, and executed with care. I am also a TEDx speaker, podcast host, and WeddingPro Educator, and I love helping couples and fellow wedding pros feel confident, supported, and steady and ready for whatever comes next. I am currently working on expanding my educational offerings and continuing to design weddings that feel breathtaking, thoughtful, and true to each couple.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe that I couldn’t be successful or accepted as myself and that I needed to change something about who I was to fit in. As an adult, I’ve learned that I wasn’t the problem. I was simply in the wrong environment surrounded by constant negativity. I was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Once I found the right spaces and the right people, everything shifted and I finally understood that who I am has always been enough.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most was rooted in being dyslexic. Reading and writing never came naturally to me, even though I genuinely love both. After years of being told I wasn’t good enough and never having anyone guide me in the right direction, I finally confided in a colleague about twelve years ago. Their honest support was incredibly validating. It changed everything for me as an adult. Today I write for magazines and online publications because I know I have a voice and a point of view worth sharing.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. The public version of me is absolutely the real me. I am as transparent as they come. I wear my heart on my sleeve even when I know it might get hurt. I want real connection every single time and I want to be part of a community of wedding pros who value that same level of honesty, heart, and authenticity.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m sitting in my front yard playing guitar while my husband works on a project and my kids ride their bikes nearby. Fall leaves on the ground, air that’s cool but not cold, and a warm sun overhead. A slow Sunday afternoon where nothing is urgent and life feels still.
