Renata , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Renata Flot-Patterson. I am a planner and producer in the arts, events & entertainment industry. I also book live entertainment acts for weddings, corporate and special events. I own and operate Big Easy Entertainment & Productions and have been operating and serving the Utah Valley since 1999. I founded Big Easy Entertainment & Productions basically on a whim of needing more entertainment when the band that I was performing with was always booked. There was a need for more bands as the client requests continued to roll in so I formed my organization based on demand. From there, I began creating events and stage productions. There first was the Sensations Soul Band, The Motown Sounds & More Tribute Show, the SLC Mardi Gras Ball and finally, the SLC NYE Masquerade Ball which has successfully been running now for 16 solid years now and is the most attended New Year’s Eve event in the entire Utah Valley. The rest is history!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My clients and colleagues. My clients made me who I am today along with my colleagues and industry partnerships that I have established. Without them, there would be no Big Easy Entertainment and I am forever grateful for them all.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself grace. You’ve done a great job and have a lot to be proud of.

Loyalty, kindness, respect and treating others like you want to be treated.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was a hard worker, passionate about creating, promoting and producing entertainment and events. But overall, kind, loving, compassionate and always seeking to help others in any way I could.
