Life & Work with Adriana Jarva of Draper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Jarva.

Adriana Jarva

Hi Adriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Brazilian, I’m 52 years old and I’ve lived here in the USA for 7 years. I have a degree in journalism, with an MBA in Marketing. I lived until I was 45 years old in Brazil and worked in advertising for 23 years. In July 2016, I came to Los Angeles to learn English and a friend who lived in California found me and invited me to visit Utah. In August I came to spend a weekend with her and her family, and met the love of my life Mark Jarva, and a year later we got married. Well, I love Yoga and I have been practicing yoga since I was 40 years old and I didn’t imagine becoming an instructor, but during the practices with my mentor Alissa Kepas announced her Vinyasa Flow training from 200 hours. I graduated in May 2020 and in December 2022 I graduated in Kundaliny Yoga with another 100 hours. During the pandemic I created the online yoga studio and teach classes to Brazilians who live around the world. I want to grow and make the studio accessible to everyone and with qualified teachers with several languages.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have some challenges in studying, learning and communicating in another language, just to remember I was in LA to learn English, all my life changed, so having graduated at 50 years old in another profession, reinventing myself and creating a studio has its challenges, but I feel like I finally found it. the “famous” purpose of my life, I love practicing and teaching yoga, sharing self-care for physical, mental and emotional health really nourishes me and makes me happier.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“Does art imitate life or does life imitate art? I’ve always had a talent for creativity, but as I became a mother at the age of 20, I needed to embrace advertising opportunities to make money and be able to raise and educate my son. I was happy and I’m grateful for my old career. I also lost my parents when I was very young, my mother passed away from cancer, unfortunately it was very sad to see the way my mother fell ill and died. I promised myself that I would take care of my health and do everything I could to avoid going through what my mother went through and since then I have been studying prevention and how to age healthily without imagining that one day I could work in care. with health. I love nature, arts, books, music, cinema, plants, flowers, arts, and I seek to nourish myself from sources that are good for me.

What are your plans for the future?
I see the online yoga studio as the best studio in the world serving yoga and meditation practices for all levels and people; children, teenagers, beginners, intermediate, advanced adults, elderly people, people with disabilities, in hospitals, schools, companies. Our society is increasingly sick and I can contribute and help in the process of self-care, self-responsibility and self-love.
