Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Ewing.
Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I wouldn’t say my path has been especially traditional or glamorous, but it’s been very real. A huge part of my story is being a mom and learning how to navigate life as a single parent while also managing a small local business. Balancing motherhood, work, and personal growth hasn’t always been easy, but it’s shaped me in ways I’m genuinely grateful for.
I originally came from a more traditional healthcare background, but over time my experiences led me toward a more holistic approach to health and wellness. That shift happened gradually through both personal and professional experiences, and it changed the way I view care, balance, and overall well-being. I started it from a genuine desire to help people feel better in ways that go beyond conventional approaches.
A lot of my growth came from learning as I went — adapting, solving problems, showing up even during difficult times, and trying to create stability for my family while continuing to grow as a person.
I’m most proud of creating a life rooted in care, perseverance, and authenticity, both as a mother and in the work that I do. I feel like helping people the way I do is truly what I love and want to continue doing for as long as I can.
Over the years, my journey has been shaped by the people I’ve worked with and the stories they’ve trusted me with. Seeing someone regain confidence, energy, peace, or hope through wellness practices is what continues to inspire me every day. That passion is what brought me here and continues to guide the work I do as a wellness manager.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been a lot of learning experiences along the way, and at different points in my life I’ve had to step into responsibilities and figure things out in real time without much structure to rely on. Being a single mom has been both incredibly rewarding and genuinely challenging—it’s required a level of strength, flexibility, and constant prioritizing that shapes everything I do. I’ve been fortunate that my parents have helped out along the way, and that support has made a meaningful difference for me and my children.
Over time, I also went through a shift in how I viewed health and well-being, moving from a more traditional healthcare perspective toward a more holistic, preventative mindset. That change didn’t happen all at once—it came through lived experience, reflection, and learning to trust myself more.
There have definitely been moments of uncertainty and adjustment while navigating changes in both my personal life and career path. But I think a lot of my growth has come from learning to adapt, stay grounded, and keep moving forward even when things feel unclear.
What’s kept me centered through it all is my role as a mom and the relationships in my life. Those are what give me perspective and purpose. I’ve learned that even in challenging seasons, there’s meaning in showing up, staying present, and continuing to grow through the process
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the manager of Ahhhsome Relaxation, where I oversee the daily operations and help create an environment centered around wellness, education, and genuine human connection. We’re a small, close-knit team, and one of the things I value most about our work is the personal care we’re able to give each guest and member. Because our staff is highly trained and certified in our therapies, we’re able to educate people on what best fits their individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
What really sets us apart is the atmosphere we’ve built. Being a smaller business allows us to truly get to know our members on a personal level, and over time it begins to feel more like an extended family than a typical wellness center. Empathy is at the core of everything we do, and I think people can genuinely feel that when they walk through our doors.
I love helping others feel better, whether that’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. Hearing success stories from members and seeing their progress over time is incredibly rewarding to me. Those moments remind me why I love what I do. For me, it’s not just about managing a business — it’s about creating a space where people feel supported, cared for, and encouraged on their wellness journey.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I think it would be whenever I got to hang out with my Aunt and Grandma. I would stay at their house and got to chose what we had for dinner and what movies we got to rent. I always loved hanging out with them. Every moment I had there and with them was cherished. I remember my Grandma blasting Johnny Cash and Elvis from her tape player and dancing around and signing. Wow. Thank you for asking that question. Those are memories I haven’t thought about in a long time and its warmed my heart to think of them again.
