Life & Work with Aulora Record of Bountiful UT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aulora Record

Hi AuLora, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I followed my dream. I’ve wanted to be in the hair industry since I was 14 years old. I did have a bit of a late start to my career, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Because I wouldn’t be here without the amazing support I’ve gotten from family, friends, and my current clients that have been with me since the beginning of my career and new clients I’ve made along the way.
I’ve been able to make my dream a reality! I’ve always wanted to give people their confidence back and to help them feel beautiful in their own skin. For the last six years, I’ve been able to do just that. I feel so very blessed to have been able to make clients from not just in my city in Bountiful Utah, but I’ve gained some clients from Florida to California even Montana and North Carolina. I’m so grateful I’m able to bring the beauty out in those around me from near and far.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At first the beauty industry was just a dream. I was pushed down by many saying I “wouldn’t make it doing hair.” and “I need to find a REAL job.”
My own manager at a previous job told me it’s a waste of time because she did the whole beauty school thing and she didn’t go anywhere with it.
But I didn’t let that get me down. I pushed myself and now I can strongly say “I proved the non believers wrong!”
I couldn’t be more proud of myself for how far I’ve come and to see the success I’ve been able to achieve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Cosmetologist and I do mainly women’s hair, but I am a certified barber. I love hair styling and hair color and I’m a color specialist. I LOVE color correction. I strive to always be open to learning and developing new skills in order to give my clients the best services I possibly can. I’ve taken curly hair classes, color chemistry classes, Extension classes, even trichology classes and I don’t plan to stop!
I’ve found not many people have someone they can go to for all their hair needs. And I love that I’m able to be that stylist for those who sit in my chair.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’m focusing on adding trichology under my belt. It’s basically a doctor that sits between a cosmetologist and a dermatologist.
Trichology is the study of the scalp and hair. So I can be beneficial to my clients with thinning hair and hair loss problems.
