Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Lewis
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Of course. I’ve always loved music (who doesn’t?), and from a young age I would perform “concerts” in my living room for my friends and family. I have played the piano since I was 5 and received classical training up until college. At that point, I decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing while still trying to play music as much as I could.
It wasn’t until I was a nurse for several years that I felt really excited and motivated to pursue music more seriously again in my life. I started an instagram page and a website offering my music services for weddings and events, and after a few months, it started to take off. I absolutely love what these last couple years have brought as I have had such awesome opportunities and have met so many amazing people through all of it. I get giddy with excitement with each new event or opportunity that comes, and I’m thrilled to see what the future holds!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not always. I would say my greatest obstacle/challenge has been figuring out how to use social media in the most effective way. While it is such a powerful and useful tool in the music industry, it has also been difficult to navigate. I have had wonderful opportunities that have come from social media, and I am in the process of discovering its potential role and finding ways to make it work better for myself and my goals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a pianist and singer providing live music for weddings, corporate events, and other private and public functions all over Utah. I also compose music, and create customized piano and vocal arrangements of popular songs for clients.
What sets me apart from others is the personalized experience I offer to my clients. I focus on getting to know them and truly understanding their vision for their wedding or event. I am able to provide only piano, piano and singing, or a mix of both. My clients and couples I work with appreciate the type of variety and experience that I offer for their special events.
I would say I am most proud of the fact that I took the leap and put myself out there again. It was more intimidating than I expected! I have worked through feelings of imposter syndrome, and I’ve grown a lot from pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Music has an incredible way of connecting with people. Whether it’s the way it brings people together, creates a beautiful atmosphere for important moments, or speaks to people’s hearts, it all matters.
Creating and performing music has always been an effective way for me to express myself, and it has become a form of therapy in many ways. I thoroughly enjoy getting to provide music for people during their most special moments, and even their darkest moments. I will be forever grateful for the positive impact music has had on me, my loved ones, and the people I’ve had the pleasure to work with.
