Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Green.
Hi Brianna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My life is nothing like I thought it would be growing up, nor anything like I was told it would be, and I am so happy with how it’s turning out! My childhood dream was to be a doctor, and culturally I was taught that my role was to be a wife and mom in adulthood. It didn’t happen like that.
I had a very typical Mormon Utah childhood and music has always been a big part of my life. I began singing from a young age and famously performed the “Ariel song” for family members as a toddler, while dramatically swishing my hair back and forth. I was given many opportunities to develop my love of music through voice lessons, piano lessons, and choir. After high school, I toured Europe with the Utah Ambassadors of Music and had the opportunity to sing in incredible venues and historic spaces.
In college, I changed my trajectory from pre-med to music therapy and began learning how music affects people mentally, psychologically, physically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Then things started to change for me personally when I moved out of state with my ex-husband. I moved 6 times in 7 years and lived in four different states. I worked on behavioral health units doing group music therapy and learning more about humans and connection. Then divorce turned my life upside down, and I found myself questioning everything I thought my life would be. I was lost. I stepped away from the LDS church and I figured out a way through it by redefining who I am.
I continued working on behavioral health units and in rehabs and realized I wanted to do deeper work with clients. Earning my master’s degree expanded the ways I could support clients and deepened my understanding of trauma, connection, and healing. I have explored combining therapy and music together over the years. Through it all, I found myself continually seeking deeper connection through music. One year ago I earned my sound healer’s certification and discovered how grounding and meaningful sound practices can be. Ever since, I have been sharing them with others and using the techniques for my own healing and meditation. Sitting here now, I can honestly say that while life is not perfect, and I don’t have “everything” figured out, I am happy being exactly who I am and living authentically.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it hasn’t been a smooth road! There’s a familiar saying: “You don’t know what you don’t know.” I’ve had to learn so many unexpected things along the way, and when I hit a snag in life, I can’t help but work on figuring something out. I don’t settle very well, which is a blessing and a curse. Luckily, humans have an amazing capacity for learning and growing. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I think I’ve had enough growing for one person. And it’s not just career development — it’s personal, social, spiritual, and emotional too. I’m always trying to find balance between the pressures of our world and my values and needs, which can be very challenging! I’ve learned to deeply appreciate the seasons where life feels both meaningful and peaceful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a mental health therapist, music therapist, and sound healer trained to use trauma-focused modalities, expressive arts, and traditional therapies to help people in their own healing and life journeys. One year ago I opened my own private practice called Sound Healing Therapy. The word “Sound” in my business name has a dual meaning. It reflects my musical practices while also representing reliability, groundedness, and sensible care. I work primarily with adults, teens, and couples, and have experience with kids and hospice clients as well. While I may not be everyone’s cup of tea as a therapist, I have gained the knowledge and experience to work with diverse populations and connect with people as humans. I work with humans first—not just diagnoses. Life is hard, and I am honored to show up and support people on their journeys. What I’m most proud of is creating a practice where people can feel deeply seen, supported, and safe to show up as themselves.
Additionally, since becoming a sound healer, I have begun leading group sound baths. This work feeds my soul and I love sharing it with others! I believe healing begins the moment someone walks into the space, so I pay close attention to lighting, music, ambiance, comfort, and intention to create a grounded and meaningful environment. Everyone who comes gets a gift to take with them for ongoing reflection and personal healing. More than anything, sound baths are about individual experiences or shared connection in a safe space.
How do you define success?
Success is living a well-rounded, authentic, and fulfilling life. It’s less about accomplishments or status, and more about whether someone feels deeply connected to the life they’re living. Success looks different for everyone and depends on what helps someone feel like they are truly living life—not just getting through it. For me, I want to always be learning, providing quality care to clients, and having meaningful relationships and experiences that put me on cloud nine. It’s deep in my soul that I need all those things.
