Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Layton.
Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
All my life, I have known that I wanted to be a mother. That dream was challenged when my husband and I faced years of unexplained infertility. After five difficult years, we pursued IVF. Our first cycle ended in miscarriage, a loss that was both heartbreaking and defining.
We were later blessed with a son through a frozen embryo transfer, and then again with twins during our third cycle. I delivered my twins prematurely at 24 weeks. Our son passed away after three days, while our daughter showed incredible resilience. After 107 days in the NICU at the University of Utah, she finally came home. My children are my greatest purpose and my living miracles.
Through this journey, I learned that my “unexplained infertility” was actually rooted in PCOS and insulin resistance. For years, I struggled with weight gain, depression, infertility, and a persistent sense of not feeling comfortable in my own body. At age 35, I underwent a total hysterectomy, an experience that profoundly changed me and required me to rediscover my sense of self.
My path into medicine began as a medical assistant in an OB/GYN practice, where I developed a deep passion for women’s health. That passion grew stronger during a humanitarian mission to Ghana, where I witnessed firsthand the need for compassionate, informed care for women. Inspired to do more, I returned to school and earned my BSN at age 40, graduating as valedictorian and at the top of my nursing class.
After nursing school, I continued searching for where I could make the greatest impact. That is when I connected with Haileigh Mason at Mason Aesthetics and Wellness. I was immediately drawn to her comprehensive, whole-body approach to health and her commitment to truly listening to patients while optimizing hormones and overall wellness.
Working alongside her as her nurse, and becoming a patient myself, has been transformative. My own health journey has been life-changing, reinforcing my passion for helping women feel seen, heard, and supported.
I am currently advancing my education by pursuing my nurse practitioner degree. I am deeply committed to ensuring that women never feel dismissed, overlooked, or made to question their experiences. Women are strong, resilient, and deserving of care that empowers them to thrive, not just survive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has not been an easy one, and I have often found myself always navigating the more challenging path. While difficult at times, these experiences have shaped my perspective and deepened my appreciation for both personal and professional growth.
Losing a child was one of the most profound hardships I have ever faced. During my final semester of nursing school, I also lost my dad, one of my biggest cheerleaders. I remember texting him with frustrations during clinicals and not feeling like I am a real nurse. His text back was simple “Boonie, you’re a real nurse to me” that changed my thinking. His passing was devastating, and even years later, I still feel the absence of his encouragement and presence. Grief is complex and enduring, but it has also strengthened my empathy and resilience.
Through these challenges, I have been incredibly fortunate to have a strong and supportive family. Their unwavering support has been a constant source of strength, and I would not be where I am today without them.
Professionally, I have had the privilege of working in a small clinic that has experienced remarkable growth, tripling in size over the past three years. While this growth has come with its share of challenges, it has been deeply rewarding to be part of that evolution. I am proud to be part of the dedicated team at Mason Aesthetics and Wellness, and I look forward with excitement to what the next five years will bring
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a nurse specializing in bioidentical hormone therapy, women’s sexual health and wellness, and noninvasive vaginal rejuvenation, because women deserve to feel just as good as they look.
At Mason Aesthetics and Wellness, I meet with new patients to take comprehensive health histories and educate them on hormone health, breaking down the difference between what’s considered “normal” and what’s actually optimal. One of the best parts of my job is watching my patients come back to life, more energy, more confidence, and that spark you can’t miss.
My vaginal rejuvenation treatments go far beyond aesthetics. While yes, we can improve appearance, the real magic is in restoring function, helping with pelvic floor strength, reducing symptoms of urinary incontinence, and bringing back natural lubrication, sensitivity, and tissue support. All of this is done noninvasively, with minimal discomfort and little to no downtime, because no one has time for that.
I’m incredibly proud to have been recognized as a Top Provider by InMode for the Empower device for two consecutive years. It’s an honor that reflects my commitment to helping women feel their absolute best.
I believe healthcare should feel personal. I love building real relationships with my patients so they know they’re truly seen, heard, and advocated for. And yes, those heart-to-heart conversations during treatments are often just as important as the treatment itself.
In addition to patient care, I serve as the Clinical Office Manager, helping support the continued growth of our practice.
I’m especially grateful to work alongside Haileigh Mason, who constantly challenges me to step outside my comfort zone. She has a way of pushing me out of the nest and reminding me I can fly, even when I’m not entirely sure I’m ready.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Be willing to take the harder path, it’s often where the most growth happens. Stay resilient, keep learning, and don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Surround yourself with people who see your potential and aren’t afraid to push you toward it. The uncomfortable moments are usually the ones that shape you the most.
