Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Stevenson Brown. She shares her story with us below:
Emily Anne is a professional vocal artist, vocal artist development coach, keynote concert presenter, and signature custom songwriter.
Emily has had a passion for music, singing, and performing from a very young age. Diving into music has always been the outlet of choice when life got hard, or she needed a pick-me-up. Growing up she felt fortunate to sing and perform in a variety of capacities and had incredible vocal coaches and mentors who inspired her to start singing, recording, performing, writing, and teaching professionally.
In 2004 she started vocal performance coaching. She quickly realized that in addition to how much she loved performing herself, she also loved helping others be confident in the many strengths in their voices. Through a combination of valuable lessons from each of her incredible vocal coaches, and teaching 17+ years, she has created, The Sing It OUT Method.
Emily loves performing professionally, presenting keynote concerts for retreats and special events, writing signature custom songs both for her own music ventures, and for clients, and helping her vocal clients excel in their vocal performance goals.
She is the owner of her vocal coaching and artist development company, Sing It OUT Studios, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sing It OUT Studios is unique in its approach to take each client’s strengths and magnify them through vocal performance coaching, recording, songwriting, video production, image design, branding, and promotion. The goal being, to show that each vocalist can reach their goals, whatever they may be. Even to the belief that they can become profitable and impactful vocal artists in the modern music industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is life ever a smooth road? I’ve often thought, what would my growth story be if life had never gotten hard? I have learned to wake up every day ready to learn the next hard lesson, otherwise, I’ll keep being surprised and unprepared when I’m knocked down again. Obstacles, challenges… I plan on them!
I’ve found plenty of gratitude for the difficulties that have come my way. I know that as I was building my business, my divorce gave me the resolve and determination to keep going. I knew I wanted to work within my passion, while also being there for my three kids. The business I have created gave me the freedom to do that. However, I could not have made it through my single mompreneur life without the massive amount of love and support I received from my parents, kids, clients, and friends. I am also so grateful to have remarried an incredible man who is a true, loyal partner and friend, the love of my life. The belief they all have in me inspires me to never give up!
Every failure of not making the cut for a certain performance or show ends up motivating me to learn more, and become better than I was before. I love how, as we overcome each hardship, we can inspire others to keep going on their journey as well. Our stories of hardship, failure, and, ultimately success, can be stepping stones for others!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
As a performer, keynote concert presenter, and signature custom songwriter, I am able to continue my own professional endeavors in music and performance, make an impact for good, and advance my skills and knowledge for delivering the highest quality of service to my vocal/performance clients.
At Sing It OUT Studios, we develop the full artist. Vocal technique and training is the starting point, but as skill improves, we dive into performance, recording, video production, auditioning, songwriting, photo shoots, album production, and more!
Clients and former students have landed record deals (check out former client Kjersti Long, who recently signed with Warner), received top rankings in pageants, appeared on The Voice, claimed lead roles in musicals, written/recorded originals, covers, produced albums, and performed in professional showcases!
It is exciting to see years of fun, hard work pay off!
What are your plans for the future?
Yes!! There is a lot happening! I am taking on more and more keynote concert opportunities, uplifting and inspiring others is an incredible feeling. I enjoy combining singing and speaking, and feel so much growth comes from that combination. Signature custom songs are also gaining in popularity, in my experience, people love having a custom song deliver exactly what they want to communicate to their loved ones, it is a fun process!
As for Sing It OUT Studios, we are currently producing an online, vocal/performance program with a workbook for those who are not able to work with me directly. Also, programs within Sing It OUT Studios were recently upgraded, and better than before!! We are dedicated to providing even more value to each client. In addition to honing their vocal performance skills, students are able to work with amazing, audio engineers, photographers, videographers, hair/make-up artists, branders, and more! We are excited about all that is in the works!
