Today we’d like to introduce you to Gia Bianca Stephens.
Hi Gia Bianca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Drag started as a casual hobby for me back in 2012. It quickly grew into a passion, and for the last 2 years, has been my full time career. During that time, I’ve competed in five national pageants, won multiple regional and state titles, and built a successful weekly show from the ground up. It’s given me a platform to not only entertain and express myself, but to advocate and fundraise for my community. Outside of the clubs, I’m very active with several queer-focused nonprofits in Utah and have helped to raise well over one million dollars for those organizations and the life-saving programs they offer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With the right tribe, you can achieve anything. Life will always present a challenge, but when you’re passionate about something, nothing should stand in your way. I don’t believe in failure, only feedback. Once I filled my life with people who lift me up and encourage me to do my best, it became much easier to apply the lessons learned from my shortcomings and achieve great things.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full time drag performer, show hostess, producer and director. My specialties are glamour and entertainment. I love the audience’s reaction when I stop on stage in a fabulous costume, and always aspire to be a treat for the eyes. I’m very proud of the community work and fundraising I’ve done over the last team years. I’m extremely proud to have found success in pageantry. I was crowned Miss Gay New York America 2022 in September, and am looking forward to competing at the 51st annual Miss Gay America pageant in January. What sets me apart from others is my ability to adapt. Pageantry has taught me how to accept and apply feedback, and I believe some of my show’s success is rooted in my desire to give the audience a fun, energizing experience every time they come to see our show.
