Today we’d like to introduce you to Guy Skocki
Hi Guy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been an artist all my life well at least as long as I can remember. Throughout the years I taught myself many different styles of art but the main mediums that I pursued are comic books and graffiti. Both combined helped me too become better at color theory as well as portrait art. I had people throughout the years ask me not only for murals but for art that they could wear on a t-shirt or some type of clothing so I decided to turn my mural company into a clothing company as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. With so many clothing brands out there and me having to learn the in and out of a company, it has provided challenges but each challenge has been nothing but full of knowledge. I decided to bring one of my best and oldest friends on board. I realized I am not a great salesmen by any means and that is his category of expertise. The hardest parts next to funds is making sure that you are creating a product that not only lasts looks good but that people like which then allows for a good reputation that hopefully spreads in more good ways than bad.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My specialty has turned into large portrait murals on the sides of building and or inside buildings. I don’t use projectors or graphs I just free hand the art and eye ball it to the best of my ability. I also design all the shirts so everything I do lately has been on my iPad so it is ready to be converted into a print in one way or another. I am self taught, I tried to go college for it all and there were some helpful teachers but art is just something I understand better than anything else in my life.
I am not only known for my black and white portrait murals but of the way I sue my colors. I love having the colors not only seem erratic but also have them compliment each other. I am absolutely proud of all these things but one thing I am most proud of is when I get to see peoples faces and hoe happy it makes them to see me create nothing into something.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
