Today we’d like to introduce you to Hada Veronica.
Hi Hada, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion for music began at the age of 12 in Tamaulipas, Mexico, and for more than 20 years I’ve been fortunate to build a career doing what I truly love. As a bilingual vocalist, I perform in both English and Spanish, which has allowed me to explore different genres, connect with very different audiences, and make my Mexican roots an important part of who I am as an artist.
My journey has taken me from local stages to major festivals, concerts, television, and radio. I worked as a presenter for Televisa Mexico and as a radio host for Ke Buena, and I was also a semifinalist on Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento in Los Angeles. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to open for and perform alongside internationally recognized artists such as Bobby Pulido, Marisela, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Aarón y su Grupo Ilusión, and many others.
In December 2020, I moved to the States and, in many ways, had to start over. I didn’t know anyone in the local music industry, so I began little by little taking opportunities, meeting musicians, building relationships, and creating a new network. It hasn’t always been easy. Starting again in a new country and building a name for myself came with challenges, uncertainty, and a lot of hard work, but I kept going because I truly love what I do. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I can’t imagine my life without it.
Today, I perform with several bands and musical projects, and I’ve also created my own party band, HALO Music Band, where I serve as lead vocalist. We perform music in both English and Spanish, which really represents who I am as an artist and the career I’ve built here in the United States. I continue performing at weddings, corporate events, festivals, concerts, and private events while also releasing my own original music as a solo artist.
After more than two decades in music, I’m still learning, growing, creating, and dreaming bigger. This career hasn’t always been an easy one, but every opportunity, every stage, and every person I’ve connected with along the way has made the journey worth it. At the end of the day, I’m still doing this for the same reason I started when I was 12: I truly love music and I truly love what I do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many artists, I’ve experienced rejection, uncertainty, missed opportunities, and the challenges that come with trying to build a sustainable career in an industry that can be very unpredictable.
One of my biggest challenges came when I moved from Mexico to the States. I had already spent many years building my career in Mexico, but when I moved here, I didn’t have the same network or connections. In many ways, I had to start again meeting musicians, finding opportunities, building relationships, and proving myself in a completely new environment.
I’ve also often felt that I have had to work a little harder to prove myself as a bilingual vocalist. Being a bilingual vocalist has also required a different kind of preparation. English is not my first language, yet a large part of the music I perform in the U.S. is in English. Songs with fast lyrics, complicated phrasing, or rap sections sometimes require extra preparation, working on pronunciation, memorizing every word, and making sure that when I step onstage, the performance feels completely natural.
At the same time, being bilingual has become one of my greatest strengths. I can go from performing an English pop or rock song to salsa, cumbia, or Latin music in Spanish, and I’m proud that I can connect with different audiences and cultures through music. What once felt like an additional obstacle has actually become an important part of my identity as an artist.
There are also the challenges that come with the music industry itself like late nights, rehearsals, travel, auditions, cancellations, rejection, and putting countless hours into opportunities without knowing where they will lead. Over time, I’ve learned that sometimes you have to create your own opportunities instead of waiting for someone else to give them to you. That mindset eventually led me to create my own project, HALO Music Band, while continuing to perform with other bands and pursue my career as a solo artist.
It hasn’t been easy, and there have definitely been moments of frustration and disappointment, but I truly love what I do. Every challenge has pushed me to become a better and more versatile performer. When I’m onstage connecting with an audience, it reminds me why all of the extra work is worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a professional bilingual vocalist and performing artist whose work moves across English and Spanish music and a wide range of genres. One of the things I’m most proud of is my versatility. Throughout my career, I’ve performed everything from pop, rock and R&B to salsa, cumbia, merengue, reggaeton and other Latin styles. I love being able to move between languages and genres and connect with completely different audiences.
Today, I work with several musical projects and perform at corporate events, weddings, festivals, concerts, private events and large scale productions throughout Utah and across the country. I’m also the founder and lead vocalist of HALO Music Band, a bilingual party band. Creating HALO has been especially meaningful to me because it has allowed me to take everything I’ve learned throughout my career and build something of my own.
At the same time, I continue developing my career as a solo artist, recording and releasing original music. I never want to stop creating my own music simply because I’m busy performing for other projects. There is something very different and personal about sharing a song that represents your own voice and story.
What I believe sets me apart is my ability to adapt. I can perform an intimate setting one night and a high energy production in front of thousands of people the next. I can go from an English pop or rock song to cumbia or salsa in Spanish, and I take pride in preparing myself for whatever the performance requires. My background in television and radio has also helped shape the way I communicate with an audience and carry myself onstage.
More than anything, I’m proud that after more than 20 years, I still genuinely enjoy what I do. I’m proud of the stages I’ve performed on and the artists I’ve had the opportunity to work with, but I’m equally proud that I had the courage to rebuild my career after moving to the United States and eventually create opportunities of my own. I’m still releasing music, performing, building HALO, collaborating with other musicians, and continuing to challenge myself as an artist. I feel like there is still so much more ahead.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Without a doubt, the first people I have to give credit to are my parents. They have been the most important supporters of my career from the very beginning. They believed in me before there was a career to believe in, and throughout every stage of this journey, they have been there encouraging me, helping me, and reminding me that what I dreamed of was possible.
One of my favorite memories is from when I was only 16 years old. My parents helped put together my very own concert as a solo artist. Looking back now, I realize how special that was. I was just a teenager with a huge dream, and instead of telling me it was unrealistic, they helped me create a stage for that dream. More than 20 years after I first started singing, they are still here supporting my music, celebrating every accomplishment and encouraging every new project. They truly are my number one fans, and having them still be such an important part of my journey means everything to me.
I also have to give so much credit to my husband. He is one of the most supportive people in my life, and the way he supports my dreams, helps me through the difficult moments, and believes in what I’m capable of is one of the many ways he shows me how much he loves me.
What makes our story even more special is that we get to share music together. He is an incredibly talented drummer and percussionist, and for as long as I can remember, I dreamed of one day marrying a musician; someone who would understand this crazy life, the rehearsals, late nights, performances, travel, sacrifices, and the passion that comes with being an artist. Somehow, that dream came true. I married an amazing person and musician, and now we get to perform together and have even created our own band.
There is something incredibly special about looking across the stage and seeing my husband behind the drums, knowing that we are not only building a life together but also creating music together. I know my accomplishments may have my name attached to them, but behind so many of them are people who have loved me, supported me, sacrificed for me, and believed in my dreams. My parents and my husband are a huge part of the artist and person I am today, and I will always be grateful to have them beside me.
